You can prefer whatever you want. Millions of people bet on and watch it every week. Whatever. I certainly don’t have to. To each their own.

But it’s a really stupid observation. One that I’ve seen a few times here recently. Water is wet level stupid.
Well don't watch it....
I don't bet anything..I enjoy the game
...but you have a wonderful evening watching .... whatever you desire...

The sham of a conference that beat the SEC 6-4 this season???!!???
Florida State vs Florida and LSU were two of those.

The other 4 sec losses were south Carolina twice, vandy, and aTm.

What a garbage stat. You throw it around like it means the ACC was anywhere close to as good as the SEC this year because their top 4 beat up on our bottom dwellers.

LSU was the only one who even finished the season ranked. Only two of those teams are even in a bowl game.

But they’ve shown they can win without him…even in their conference championship🤷‍♂️
Sure. That’s true. They have demonstrated an ability to win games without him.

Were they the same team? I think if we’re being intellectually honest with ourselves, then thats a fairly easy one to answer.

If we were in Michigan's shoes, we wouldn't be excited about playing Bama vs FSU without Travis. If we were in Bama's shoes and played Texas OOC, went undefeated in SEC, plus beating UGA at a neutral site in the SEC championship, and 4 top 25 wins, we would rightfully believe we made ought to have one of the 4 slots. Those scenarios should tell us something even if we hate seeing Bama sneak their way in (something we all agree on).

The ironic twist of fate is that the ACC was against expanding the playoffs (which should have happened years ago). I would look for Clemson and FSU to redouble their efforts to leave.

The ACC is a dead conference walking. With Texas and Oklahoma leaving, the Big 12 is in the same boat. We are just a few years away from the SEC and Big 10 expanding once more to pick the carcasses of each dead conference clean, leaving the NCAA, and forming their own governing body.
If we're going to do "if we were", if we were an undefeated conference champion being left out in favor of a team that had already lost to another playoff team, we'd be losing our minds.

Wed be losing our minds on either side of the scenario if we got left out.

For sure.

And if FSU had been riding Greg McElroy all year on the back of that stout D, it would be different. But they weren’t riding Greg McElroy, they had Jordan Thomas.

They had an elite QB. Now they don’t have an elite QB.

And they are a vastly different team.
None of that should matter…. at all!!!! We don’t know what type of team Fla State will have with some actual time to adapt… They earned the right… the defense carried them to make sure they stayed undefeated.

No…but does that mean they automatically lose? Then, I need the committee’s lottery numbers.

They could be a different team and still win.

Again, what everyone hated and complained about the old system was that we crowned a champion based on speculation about who was the best. Now here we are in a playoff system with people defending setting championship contenders based on speculation.

FSU earned the chance to try and fail. Bama crapped the bed in their own building; they already failed.

Keep carrying that Bama water. Not sure why you would as a Dawg fan.

I know I don't get the benefit of the doubt here, but I'm not carrying Bama's water. I'd say the same things if any other team was in Bama's position. I am carrying the committee's water because I think they used a rational approach to this situation. People are trying to apply rules that were never codified and wouldn't work if they were.

There are two systems for choosing playoffs: subjective (voting/polls) or objective (WL records/tiebreakers). There's no such thing as a hybrid of those two. In a four team playoff I think the former, while not perfect, works better for getting the best potential matchups and I think it did that here. In a 12 team playoff we could conceivably switch to purely by the Won-loss record and end up including the best 4 teams, but it would still cause endless controversy.

The “best matchups?” We want to crown a champion of the sport, not schedule Monday Night Football.

(And I said we, not the d**n committee.)

Jordan Travis lit up LSU like a pinball machine. Jordan Travis.
