He’s a talented guy that doesn’t have it between the ears. Could develop into a solid QB one day but for rn he’s an average drive killer
Talent yes, but 6 years in college..should have figured it out by now...CFL would be a good spot for Joe....

He is the one that recruited the lineman.
I am speaking more to the depth, which I think is the point the coach is making as well.

Putting that aside, your comment/framing is a bit disingenuous. He didn't have a full cycle with the 2021 class and he's put 22-23 together despite restrictions.

He also had several big fish on the hook, even in this class, that went to higher bidders. All the more reason to promote the Vol Club.

LOL, no it's not. You cannot possibly have enough data to know if he is as good as advertised or not.
Now vs eventually. So far, nope. In the future, hopefully.

He looks like a freshman, plain and simple. I think he'll be good, but he ain't yet what's been advertised.

This is all to explain why it makes sense he hasn't been playing over Milton.

Tyler Bray making fun of someone else for being able to throw 80 yards but not having it between the ears is the richest irony that has ever existed.
Bray passed for 3600 yards and 35 TD’s with Dooley as his coach. If he had an actual coach he’d a Heisman contender. He’s 10x the QB Milton is

Looking to next season, Milton will be gone, so no more blaming Milton. We either need to talk some OL guys into staying, or we need to get really lucky in the portal. To be honest, I'm not sure any of our starters have high draft potential. They all have the ability to return. They could come back and maybe improve their draft stock, or they could just take their chances and just go ahead and start their NFL career. I'm not sure the decision is clear cut for any of them. I hope at least a couple stay, especially Cooper, and we get lucky in the portal as well.

I think WR will be fine next year. I can definitely see us looking for a playmaking WR in the portal, but I also think we're okay with who we have.

Still think our biggest problem is defense. Depending on who stays and who goes, DL could be a huge need. LBs have to develop. DBs have to get better. The latter two go back to coaching, which is a whole other discussion. Heupel needs to improve his staff.

About that last statement, we've been led to believe that it's not from an inability to match offers, but the decision simply not to. Example, FM last year. Miami threw a huge amount at him. Word was we didn't think he was worth that much and money was better spent elsewhere. Not that we couldn't match it, but that we didn't match it. So the message being put out is that we're more frugal by choice, not lack of funds.

Nico is already a way better QB than Milton and it’s coaching malpractice and a slap to fans faces continuing to play Milton when he has played awful. Any boos he gets or loud chants for Nico are on him. You can’t be blown out two weeks in a row and not make any changes.

That’s on him.
You don't know the dynamic on the team. Maybe things work out if they play Nico but maybe the older guys are passed that Joe waited for his chance and the coaches played the kid. Without an intimate knowledge of the locker room you are just spouting fan speculation that is not based in fact.

Bray had nfl OL and wr all around him, and he had an offense built for him. He'd crumble in cjh offense with the OL and wr Joe is working with.

Was bemoaning this in the game thread. Halzle or Heupel are over thinking things. Wright had 2 carries until the last drive of the first half. This offense is stupid and not working.
We also failed on multiple short 3rd downs. Killed us.

At one point the stat on tv was UGA was like 3/4 on 3rd downs with an average distance to go of 10.5 yards.

Meanwhile we were something like 1/5 with an average distance of 3.4 yards. Gotta make those or set them up for 4-downs.

Last season was great...........but it raised the expectations to a level that was unattainable this year.
The program's stock is still rising. Some need to get a grip and understand just how crappy this program was 3 yrs ago.

Rebuilding in the SEC isn't a quick fix......that should be obvious, but it's not to many.

Look at the roster breakdown from LWS's post.

Seniors: 30
Juniors: 9
Sophomores: 11
Freshmen: 33

Heupel was facing a really unique roster issue this season with over half of the roster being underclassmen and the largest group being Freshmen (redshirt and true) and second largest being a ton of Seniors. If you want a roster that can survive the season, you better keep a lot of those Seniors happy so they don't leave.

Let's be honest, most of those Seniors are mid to lower level SEC talent. Heupel has been handcuffed in some way with this roster every season. Next season will finally see the balance of the roster shift to something a little closer to normal and the 2025 season will probably be his first where he shouldn't have any notable roster issues to manage.

Exactly. This is what I’ve been saying all year. Your more talented guys are underclassmen, but aren’t getting to play because you will lose the upperclassmen and depth is completely gone then. Why we haven’t sprinkled in underclassmen on defense especially in the secondary is maddening.

That player market will work itself out as well but we are also learning that OL are going to be valued very high coming out of HS and in the portal

They aren't going to pull Joe for Senior Day vs Vandy or his last college game in the bowl. If Nico gets reps in either it's because we dominated or because Joe got hurt.

Joe is what he is and the hay is in the barn on this season. Tune out until the spring game or accept that you will see Joe finish this thing out.
Yuk.
