it’s hard to sale a qb from the portal when they know that they probably won’t be starting..Our qb situation will be fixed in two years when we have Nico….. Merck……and a true freshman.
He might be able to sell it this offseason. He could say he would give the portal QB a legit chance to earn the job. Not saying he will, but it would be nice to have a little bit of experience at backup next year.

I'm still rolling with Heupel. Need to really hit the portal hard and get some wins in recruiting. Getting someone like Seaton on the O-line would help. Need a couple more playmakers at WR. Secondary and Linebackers need a lot of work, continue to hit portal and recruit there. We're not that far off.
Do you have any eligibility left?

On a serious note, I agree. We are missing 1 playmaker at WR and TE (hopefully have them coming in next year or redshirting this year). We lack quality depth on the OL. We did our best yesterday with 3 back-ups. Then lost another starter and one of the back-ups. Not beating GA with that.

We just do not have the secondary. I like our DL and the depth we have there. Our first string DB's would be a lot of teams 2nd string. We have no depth at LB.

We need to portal the hell out of the OL, DB. I think we have enough talent from recruiting at the other positions.

Yesterday we had wr’s get open deep and Joe miss-fired on the deep shots, Keyton had a step a couple of times and Joe hung it in the air and/or took too long to throw it and the UGA db made the breakup. Then there was that over throw to Squirrel first drive of the 2nd half, and before that he threw the ball at squirrel on the screen so hard he couldn’t catch it. Oh, he also has no ability to read coverages or make checks at the LOS, which is why our tempo is slowed down

Joe was not good.

He isn’t good.

I was way wrong. I thought at worst he would be above average.

I think the coaches fell for practice joe and were just waiting for him to figure it out.

He severely limited this team and their potent.

He killed this team and season.

I still can’t believe the players rallied around him as qb 1.

Look at the roster breakdown from LWS's post.

Seniors: 30
Juniors: 9
Sophomores: 11
Freshmen: 33

Heupel was facing a really unique roster issue this season with over half of the roster being underclassmen and the largest group being Freshmen (redshirt and true) and second largest being a ton of Seniors. If you want a roster that can survive the season, you better keep a lot of those Seniors happy so they don't leave.

Let's be honest, most of those Seniors are mid to lower level SEC talent. Heupel has been handcuffed in some way with this roster every season. Next season will finally see the balance of the roster shift to something a little closer to normal and the 2025 season will probably be his first where he shouldn't have any notable roster issues to manage.

The thing is, the UGA defenese we played yesterday isnt close to what we faced the last 2 years. With a competent QB that couldve been a game in the 4th quarter.

Losing by just over 18 PPG to the big 3 is unacceptable and should be for every Tennessee fan. Changes on the horizon.
