The WRASSLIN’ Thread

I was already an OC fan but this run has been a really good one.

Dude has been putting on good to great matches in this run and can seemingly work with anybody/style.

Wednesday was not the time to end it.

I saw the initial post. You're probably right about it not being a great time to end his championship run. While I'm not a big fan, as long as you don't take him too seriously, he can work as a good midcard champion. He can put on good matches with the right opponent. If he was holding the TNT championship,it would be a different story.

I love Orange. I just think he's so over, that holding the title isn't doing him much good. His comedy shtick doesn't really help to elevate the belt while defending it outside AEW either. I'd like to see it on Buddy, Ricky or Juice. It would help elevate them and they could help elevate the belt whilst defending it in other promotions.

Yeah, long reigns as a comedy wrestler don't do anybody any good. As long as he's not champion 3 months from now, they should be okay. Speaking of Ricky Starks,if it's not Buddy Murphy taking the belt off of him, he should be the guy that wins it off of him. Great on the mic and in the ring. If Hobbs is going to stick with the TNT belt, I'd go with Starks as the next champ after OC.

If anybody can make it work, it's Cassidy. But short of a heel turn :D, I don't see how it's going to pick up anymore steam than it has now.

I don’t think the TNT title is coming off Hobbs any time soon and the World Title might as well be glued to MJF. So the international title almost has to change hands before long.

:rolleyes::rolleyes: Why can’t WWE not suck? A 2-year old could book better matches and have better stories than Vintz. He sucks. Roman Reigns for this long?

I considered watching Smackdown last night since I DVR several shows and may watch them if they sound interesting. From the sounds of it, it wasn't too good. I'm fine with Roman holding it until SummerSlam so Cody can go through Brock and take it off of him then. Even as a heel, a dominant looking guy like Roman shouldn't continue to cheat to win.

As far as Drew McIntyre, I'd say it's going dark on social media until he gets the contract situated. I can't see him leaving at this point in time. That is unless Khan offers him the money and he has it,and he's well booked in AEW. Impact doesn't have the money even though he reinvented himself there after the chosen one gimmick. JMO

No way Impact can afford Drew. I don't see him doing well in AEW either. That's not a knock on him. Drew is awesome. But he'd likely get lost in the shuffle on AEWs roster and he deserves better than that. New Japan wouldn't be likely to push him either, unless they are bringing him in as the new leader of Bullet Club. As much as I dislike what WWE is doing right now, he should probably stay there for at least one more contract.

So AEW looks like it's bringing Punk back,
starting a new show, and doing some form of brand split? Not sure how to feel about any of that.

411MANIA | Warner Bros. Discovery Reportedly Told CM Punk Is Coming Back to AEW, More On When That Might Happen

Regarding the brand split, they have a large talent pool where they might be able to do something like that. As long as wrestlers are used well, I can see it working out. Give them more opportunities to be on TV. With Punk, I'm right there with you. I don't know what has changed since the last time he was with AEW.

It seems like they are splitting the roster to keep Punk away from the part of it he can't get along with. It's like they are rewarding his behavior with his own show. From what I can tell the elite are unwilling to work with him. Especially the Bucks. Even if they have the roster to handle a 3 way split (don't forget about ROH) what message does it send to the locker room?

Supposedly, Punk's first program coming back will be with Jericho. Smart of Jericho to jump on that if Punk does come back. Everyone will be talking about Punk this Punk that. Jericho is so freaking shrewd... He may not get along with Punk, but he knows how to keep his name up there and in the public sphere.

My thoughts on bringing Punk back. I go back and forth... Is it real? Is it just BS to engage the public to see if it is really viable? But I always come down to these things:

A) They want him for Forbidden Door and/or Wembley (Maybe a dream match with Kenta?).
B) At this point, everyone has talked and made up and from here on out, it is all a work (this is what I am leaning towards).
C) They want to bring him back to bury him (Maybe a 10% chance on this one, yeah).

Regarding the new show on Saturday nights... This puts Rampage in a strange place. It's kind of a throwaway show in a sense already. Do they make it ROH focused (I know Warner doesn't want ROH branded programming, but maybe they move Rampage to one of the other "lesser" Warner networks. This would make sense to me since Rampage brings in maybe half the viewership that Dynamite does.)

So we will have:

1-2 hours of Dark Elevation on Mondays
1-2 hours of Dark on Tuesdays
2 hours of Dynamite on Wednesdays
1 hour Rampage on Fridays
2 hours of Collision on Saturdays
1 hour of AEW All-Access on Wednesday nights

So that is anywhere from 8-10 hours of AEW programming per week. I love AEW, I love wrestling. But I have to be honest with myself, am I going to ingest that much AEW content? Uh... YES! I already watch everything AEW anyway lol. What's 2 more hours? haha. I even watch the 'Hey-E-W' shows on Youtube hosted by RJ City. IF you have never watched that, it is hilarious. My wife hates wrestling, but anytime I watch that show and she sees it on, she will sit down and watch it with me and laugh her ass off.
But for the average or casual wrestling fan, is there a glut? IS there just too much wrestling on now? If I watched WWE regularly, I would probably say yes. But right now, AEW is pretty much all I watch - aside from old PPVs on Peacock.

I'll watch a Saturday show. I guess Rampage can become the go between, where the two rosters interact? I wish they'd find a way to keep it from being preempted by every sporting event on TNT though.

I lost interest in the Dark shows a while back. There is just too much. I think they should transition "the darks" to roh and turn it into AEW's version of NXT, to support ROH ppvs. The 9.99 monthly charge model they have for weekly ROH now is hard to swallow.

Yeah,I'm pretty much in the same boat. I tried giving WWE another shot after WrestleMania with RAW and Smackdown, but it just feels like pointless filler outside of Cody/Brock thats not going to be played out until SummerSlam from the looks of it. I like NXT and how it's booked, especially with the women. The one thing they have over AEW and even Impact.

I'll probably stick to NXT, AEW and Impact and watch WWE PPVs.

Watching Dark right now. Some good stuff going on. Iron Savages (formerly Bear Country) may be getting a baby push. They look good.

They are turning Marina Shafir into a monster. She has been destroying people lately. I enjoy watching her style.

I don't get Christopher Daniels going over Angelico though... Thats another guy that is uber talented and just being wasted. I would love to see Angelico hook up with like Christian and Luchasaurus or something.

But Christopher Daniels? Come on... I'm tired of the Fallen Angel Goodbye tour part 3. I have never liked that guy.

I've always liked Daniels. Watched him in TNA and ROH. His best stuff usually involved AJ or Kaz. But yeah, he needs to hang it up.

Not sure about Angelico. He's great in ring. But his character needed work the last I saw him. Dude was a walking bucket hat with less personality that Hager.

I love his character. He's got this laid back party boy style, but he will tie you up in knots in the ring.

I haven't watch dark in a while. He didn't talk much when I was watching. I felt like he needed more of an edge. I love that death roll submission of his though.
He, Luther and Serpentico are the Spanish Announce Project as Serpentico (John Cruz) and Angelico do commentary for the Spanish broadcast for AEW shows.
