The majority of homicide victims in the US every year are black.
The black population is around 12-13% of the total population.
The vast majority (80-90%) of all homicides are intra-racial.
How can anyone see that data and still believe the problem is the guns? Do you believe black Americans (12-13% of the population) own the majority of guns?
I seriously have no clue how anyone can look at homicide data here and gun ownership and believe there’s a correlation. Especially given that all available data seems to indicate white Americans own more guns
According to this CNN article around 48% of white men own guns vs 24% of non white.
So the demographic committing the most homicides is less likely to own a gun by 50% and yet some believe there’s a correlation here between guns and homicide?
If guns were the problem here you’d see the white homicide rate around twice that of the black rate. Instead the homicide rate is inverted in the direction of the demographic less likely to own guns by about 10x
What studies reveal about gun ownership in the US | CNN
What that suggests is that while the share of gun owners in the US is getting smaller overall, those who do own guns are buying more and more of them.
There are more total guns in America than ever before - an increasing depth of ownership.
Those guns are increasingly owned by a smaller % of citizens - a decreasing breadth of ownership.

Oh it has nothing to do with the point you are trying to make. It was a completely unrelated observation from the article. Why does that trend matter and why would we care if were reversed or not? I'm confused by the focus on what I see as the least relevant aspect.
