Gun control debate (merged)

Uhhh what?

I was pointing out the faults of our country. I was pointing out how gun control was one of those that lead to the later atrocities. a point you didn't even attempt to refute.
and please point to any righty wanting to kill with impunity? If you mean we want to be able to defend our family from a home invader and not have to worry about losing our freedom or livelihood, then yes. If you mean we think we are arguing that we should be able to fire off our guns freely in a downtown street, then no we aren't. You are the one that has to conflate carrying a weapon, to firing it. And I also think most of us mind private businesses banning guns on their property, the issue rises when they ban our guns, but then don't take appropriate steps to ensure our safety. The issue is we are far past any type of "fair exchange", and have entered the territory of "doing something to do something, even though it produces the exact opposite of what we want."

Trust humans to twist anything, and I mean anything, into something it was never meant to be. But then we're a twisted species.

You barely scratched the surface. Shhh! Rights are allergic to the truth as they think our nation is fault-free, and incapable of diabolic conduct. Now, about this gun business, rightists don't want gun control in any form. They like having the option of killing with impunity. However, bit by bit, the chickens are coming home to roost.

But the right aren't the ones shooting up schools.

But we know people do idiotic things like leave them in dresser drawers or in glove compartments. There needs to be a consequence for that when the gun is then stolen. Does not necessarily have to be a major crime.

But for example when a person buys a handgun, how about they sign an agreement that they will maintain it securely or dispose of it in any one of a number of lawful ways. Every three years they provide proof that they still lawfully possess it or have lawfully disposed of it (for example if you want to get rid of it go to a collection site -- could be any gun shop -- and get a receipt showing you no longer possess it).

You get a reminder as the three years approaches and you get a notice if three years goes by, giving you another 90 days to show possession or lawful disposition. If after that time you have not done so, you are fined $5,000.

But, if you then show possession or lawful disposition, its reduced to $25 to cover the paperwork.

This way, anyone can buy a gun, they just have to exercise some minimal due diligence to keep is from ending up in the hands of a guy like last night.

Lmao so if someone robs you, you’re the actual criminal not the robber?

dont forget to lock up your kitchen knives and blunt objects or LG is going to have you arrested and your life ruined, even more, when someone else robs you of those things.

I mean its about safety right? If it saves even one life, its worth ruining the lives of millions.

Sec Mayorkas is a goofy delusional person who lives in LaLa land, w/pink pigs that fly around, who has no simple answers to simple questions. All he likes to do, in these hearings, is to stonewall senators & give stupid long off the subject answers so he can run the clock out.

“Let’s ban assault weapons!!!”

What is an assault weapon?

“Let me give you the dates on my resume. Down to the exact hour of the day”

What is an assault weapon?

“I’m confident there is a definition. But TDS is clouding my memory thus I do not recall”

That needs to be aired on a continuous loop.
Why? It's the same problem. One of the many problems with your attacks on the 2A, is that you cant define what it is you are attacking. The "gun" problem remains amphorous for you. You cant sit down and define what it is you have a problem with, so you literally have to make up terms and phrases that dont actually exist so that you can be as vague as possible.

Half the time you cant even define what you want done. "Something needs to be done", that's amphorous AF. Or when you can define it, it already exists. Or if it doesnt exist it wouldnt make a difference, expanded back ground checks wouldnt catch these people. A delay on delivery of a gun would just change the date of the attack.

And meanwhile you ignore that all your measures with guns arent effective. School shootings are on the rise despite guns being less available, despite there being more background checks, despite there more "safety" measures in place. At some point, if you really want to solve the problem, you have to admit their your current strategy isnt working, and that doubling down isnt the solution.

Demonizing guns is working as well as demonizing drugs did. At some point you have to admit that and realize a completely different strategy is needed.

I've offered multiple ideas that would lessen the level of gun insanity in this nation and the damage it ultimately brings.
Every idea is always met with the same crazed gun nut responses.
It's tiresome, it's sad, it's shameful, and Jon Stewart highlighted that perfectly.

so have we, and you have rejected them. that's the problem. You want your admittedly ignorant ideas implemented, and aren't willing to listen to the people who can at least define the terms you are looking for. Your ideas aren't working. you just keep doubling down on them. you think the specifics of one case apply to every case, ignoring every single time when they don't. like expanded back ground checks, or a gun purchase delay wouldn't have stopped this attack. while our measures on mental health medication probably would have.

the issue is you completely ignore the base issue. the people. you focus on the inanimate object because you just want to do something; and instead of admitting your ideas for people doesn't work, you focus on the gun because that ignores your blind spots.

I agree. your ignorance, and failed attempts to falsely assign blame where it doesn't lie is tiresome, sad, and shameful. Stewart highlights that perfectly.

the problem will keep getting worse the longer this nation heads down your path of ignoring the base problem, and the more you vilify and attack millions of innocent people.

I know it does, child, that's why you're so dysfunctional. But it's good that you realize your mental condition. Maybe this will help. But understand, I can only provide you the reference, as I'm not a medical professional myself. If you require further assistance, contact the doctor below, not me. I hope it all turns out well for you. I'm sorry you're hurt, but you've taken the first step in acknowledging that it does. Best of luck.

That's what I thought. You've got nothing.

The only mentally ill person here is you.
