Depends on the matchup. A lot of people will care if we square off against Dabo. No one will care if we play Tulane.
Not true. How much did all of Butch's momentum help when he blew out Iowa and Nebraska? Next year, will be a totally different team. Bowls are nothing more than fun exhibitions. They have no bearing on anything.

I didn’t say it would propel us to great heights. I just said people would “care” about a Clemson matchup, specifically in ways they won’t care about a Tulane matchup.

They have definitely got a lot of grief.. but
I view this committee as the person that gets called out and knows they’re wrong but continues to dig their heels in. They’d catch a lot of heat if they changed it too. Not necessarily from people arguing for Bama but people arguing the committee’s aptitude even more than people already do.
I think it was done to position them into the playoff in case of chaos. If they have no shot after the championship games, I could see them not caring and saying oh you were right and at the end of the year we evaluated all data and put UT ahead now.

From the Orange Bowl Conference Tie Ins rule:

“… Also, should a highest-ranked team create a rematch with the ACC team, the Orange Bowl has the option of passing over that team for the next-highest ranked team among the Big10, SEC, and Norte Dame..”

While Clemson and Ohio State didn’t play this year, or last year, the Clemson vs Ohio State matchup was played the two prior years in the CFB. It’s still a matchup that viewers and attendees may be apathetic to. This wouldn’t technically be a rematch.. but if Clemson wins the ACC then it at least gives the Orange Bowl a little bit of a leg to stand on if they don’t want to accept Ohio State. Not sure it’s enough though. Depends on how much wiggle room they would have and if the Orange Bowl even cares.
I know we travel well. I'm sure they're interested in the bottom line. Which would bring them more money. Tennessee or Ohio State?

They help with preseason rankings. That’s really it.

Live view of the committee right now...

Changed my stance, I want Utah to crush USC. Riley is a POS and took all sorts of transfers from OK and other schools to get this team. Williams has cuss words on his hands and no one cares. Could you imagine if that was us?

F that school. Go Utes!

OSU to the playoffs, USC moves below us, we get the sugar bowl.
And I want to see Williams have a horrible game so he can be dropped from the Heisman conversation.

So USC getting bounced is our hope for the Orange Bowl, am I correct?

Best hope, I think.

AP keeps talking like the Orange Bowl could turn down OSU if the Rose Bowl took Penn St. He seems less confident that they would.

The weird thing is, I have Ohio State fans in my extended family who I’ve talked to, and every one of them says they would be bored with another Clemson matchup. They all want to go back to Pasadena, and they seemed a bit embarrassed that OSU was acting like they were above it. Of course, they’re all around my age, and still revere the Rose Bowl like I do the Sugar Bowl.

The only reason anyone would care about cuss words on fingernails here is bc this is the conservative south. Someone would be upset. The outrage would be regional and grow from there.

Nobody in LA gives a damn bc honestly why would anyone give a damn?

Or. . .
Send real life versions of each team's mascots into a no holds barred wrestlemania match. The teams get seeded by how their mascot finishes the match. . .

Do we send Smokey or Rifleman? Has to be Rifleman, right?
I don’t know, Smokey has a lot of accessories

Another scenario which keeps us from whipping Clemson's ass in the Orange Bowl!

Tom Herman to FAU. Remember when ppl wanted him hired here lol

I'm very happy with Heupel and I think Herman's personality for what we needed at the time wouldn't have worked well.

But Tom Herman is 54-22 for his career and has never had a season with less than 7 wins. FAU will be very good for as long as he's there I think. I would say I'm curious why he took that job, but spending a few years there to establish recruiting connections before his next P5 move is a damn smart idea.
