He also had some pretty talented teams around him. Not saying he wasn’t a reason we made it, but their was so much talent squandered during his reign as qb1.

Not near as much as 99. Still pissed at Tee about that.

Peyton is #1 for that reason, he was essentially the first wave into the new era where the talent wasn't quite there yet but by the time he left the team was overall better. (which should be where we are as Hooker leaves as well)
Clausen and Dobbs though you could probably debate talent around them, I do think Clausen overall had more talent for his career...but Dobbs did play with Malone, Kamara, Jennings, Barnett, AJ Johnson, Maggitt, & Reeves-Maybin

You know everyone said "feels like '98" all season...it actually feels more like '97, had the senior QB and a lot of returning talent on offense, lost by 2 scores to an East rival on the road that was ranked 3rd....then got blown out (happened in the bowl game that season though) and finished 11-2.

If Milton is the guy next year and we see the defense make big strides ('97 they ranked 42nd in Points Against at 22.0 and '98 they were 8th at 14.5) maybe next year will feel like '98.

'97 with Peyton we had balance, but were more of a passing offense.
'98 with Tee we shifted to more of a running offense but still scored.

'22 defense is currently 47th in PA at 23.5.

1997 Offense: 331.8 passing yds per game with 3.1 TDs, 151.1 rushing yards per game with 1.1 TDs
2022 Offense: 332.3 passing yds per game with 2.9 TDs, 205.8 rushing yards per game with 3.3 TDs

From 97 to 98 we went in with an established RB (Jamal Lewis) then ended up needing to rely on two sophomores (Henry/Stephens) that were two different types of RBs

We head into 23 with an established RB (Small/Wright) and could end up needing to rely on two sophomores (Sampson/JWT) that are different types of RBs

UT tends to stick with that "go along to get along" philosophy. Personally, I'd like to see UT speak up more. It's possible to be forthright about being slighted without being a jerk about it. UT gets criticized no matter what, so why not make the point? They are lobbying a bit for Hooker, who basically has been dropped from anything Heisman, and that's great to see.
Do you think Danny White has that "don't make waves" mentality? To me he comes across as NOT having that mindset.

I feel like OSU may have figured out a bot strategy to get around the bot blocking. I was just on that site 10-15 min ago and Hyatt was up by 2-3%… and now he’s behind. That’s too fast of a turnaround.
They've figured out a bot to answer their little math question prior to the vote counting?

That's a fun Thought..........

Me personally:
1. Jimmy Streater
2. Tony Robinson
3. Peyton Manning
4. Heath Shuler
5. Hendon Hooker

I had to look him up, that's how old you are....

But can you explain the Jimmy Streater one a bit?

51.6% 3433 passing yards 17 TDs to 30 INTs
1374 career rushing yards and 25 TDs

All that while playing for only 2 teams that finished over 500...it'd be like me picking Justin Worley it looks like!

I was pleased to see the Hooker Heisman campaign from UT this morning.

Usually they don't do things like that.

I want UT admin to have a little more fire and voice their authority. We get slighted too much and just take it.

More incoming from social. They're doing a nice job there, and it's great to see.

Favorite Vol QB.....not best;)

Would have flourished in today's game. Fun to watch .................thrill a minute.
All Time yards leader in school history when he left.

My favorite Vol ever!

If so, we need to figure out a way to get ESPN in our corner.

Polls are useless. All we can do now is go to whatever Bowl the SEC decides we deserve. I just hope we don't go and lay a turd and prove the idiots right.
If the players are not excited about whatever bowl we get, and a few opt out while some are out for not doing the schoolwork they were supposed to do...we may very well see a repeat of the SC game.

I hope that does not happen...it looks like these dudes would he excited to play in a prestigious bowl game after all the crap they went through the last few years.
