Eh. America is probably the most arrogant and entitled country when it comes to the world stage. I love her, but it is what it is. And I don't think we should eat and sleep worry about what the world thinks of us, but a bit of humility and self-awareness is generally a good thing.

An underdog latecomer telling the world what to call their favorite sport because we beat a bad team just reeks of everything the world says we are.
I agree with you in many regards, but in the case of sport, I don’t think it’s as big of a deal and a little ā€œshizā€ talk is competitive fun. Embrace the villain role

It’s funny, I go and read the NY6 bowl tie ins and regulations, and all of the bowls say they ā€œhave to take the highest ranked team out of ā€¦ā€. The only exceptions are rematches and the playoff.

Sugar Bowl: Has to take the highest ranked SEC team that isn’t in the playoff VS the highest ranked team from Big12 that isn’t in the playoff.

Orange Bowl: Has to take the highest ranked SEC/Big10/Big12 team that isn’t in the playoff VS ACC champion or highest ACC ranked team that isn’t in the playoff.

Then you have the Rose Bowl that’s just like, yeah, technically Ohio State is the highest ranked team in our conference tie in but nah, we don’t want them. Let us hand pick our team.

I would laugh so hard if the Orange Bowl was like, hey, they got to choose so we will too and then they pass over OSU to say we want an orange out. UT orange VS Clemson orange in the Orange Bowl. The marketing just sells itself šŸ˜‚
This is how it should be if the Rose Bowl doesn’t follow the rules. Never heard of a team picking the bowl they want!

If you want to be ranked ahead of another team, it's bad to lose to them.
Don't get blown out by bad teams. That's the cardinal rule. If we had 3 losses should we still be ranked ahead of them because we beat them? It's not a binary situation, you don't automatically get to be ranked ahead of someone because you beat them. I think we deserve to be ranked over Bama, but I'm not blind enough to expect it when bad losses have always, always trumped everything else.

In the long run, it doesn't matter. Even if Hyatt wins the fan vote, the actual voters will give it to Marvin Harrison, Jr. Actual stats don't matter.
They brag on their site that the online fan vote was the "tie breaker" recently. I wouldn't be surprised if they do that again. They get money every time we click that link and go there to vote. That's like 2 or 3 "visits" per person that clicks that link. They'll probably sell the trophy out to make that sweet internet money.

38-6 over Bowling Green
56-0 over Vandy

Over 300 yards rushing in both games. But that's the only two games Milton has had here as the starter. I do think his ability to throw the deep ball will make running the ball easier next season. I also think a full month of bowl preparation getting starting reps will be huge for Milton. But Hendon Hooker is arguably one of the 5 best QBs to ever play at TN...

Milton hasn't proven anything yet.

I’m having a hard time accepting Hooker won’t play for Tennessee ever again. Love that guy. I’m putting him at No. 2 on my list.

Don't disagree. Note: "bad look" != "International incident".

I mean, at least the US doesn't generally riot and kill people over sports events. (Unless we include Bama fans at family reunions, after a loss/)

Nope. What matters is that Hyatt plays for TN. He will not win.

But, there will be no bias involved of course.
As much as these talking heads fellate Nick Saban and Bama, Hyatt's performance against Bama alone should win him the award. But they probably hold that against him. And you're right, he plays for Tennessee. Therefore, I'll be surprised if they even let him finish second.

If they don't give it to Harrison, I'll be shocked. He's got pedigree and plays for a media darling in Ohio State.

The simple fact is the humans in the room think Bama is a better football team despite the data.

They just feel they are better. Period.

That’s the truth and extremely frustrating. I want to go to the committee and ask them why the **** are we even playing the games if feelings and projection trump on field performance.

Not a chance. Hooker would be front runner for Heisman and they rarely if ever jump teams unless they lose. USC has the 56th ranked SoS. We were top ten with oor only loss to the #1. We were 100% in the playoffs if we had won out.
They were going to put Oregon in over us if they won their conference. They would have definitely put USC in over us.

Tell me you've never dreamed of storming the field to cause major bodily harm to a ref....

We hold back, they don't.

That's ridiculous. We're talking about the same overall record. And that "cardinal rule" is nowhere on the committee's list of criteria. If it were, there'd probably be less bitching. The fact of the matter is that UT beats Bama in every metric the committee listed, and yet here we are...

I won't lose sleep over it. As mentioned earlier, I'm enjoying seeing the groundswell of media narrative to potential recruits that UT is better than Bama and Bama is just a coddled dinosaur that has to get by on reputation.

But it's pretty lame to completely ignore the committee's self-published criteria for some unwritten "cardinal rule" that the committee then comes out and denies using, while admitting they use, and again deny using.
