Sugar or Cotton for us. Orange is taking Ohio State. Unfortunately OSU was there last year and won't travel as well in subsequent years especially after the fan base has been through another Michigan game meltdown.

I am surprised the Sugar is not licking their chops to get Tennessee. Our fanbase is hungry as can be and would pack that stadium. I don't think this is about rankings or anything else, I think it is truly about preference on teams and I think Sugar Bowl would take Tennessee.


One more rumor is for Chik Fil A kick off it might be Tennessee vs. Clemson in Charlotte at 2024. Might wait on that game....

It’s hard to defend a team whose best win was a 1-pt win over an 8-4 Texas team who played most of the game without their starting quarterback. That’s all we’re saying.

Their 3 best wins are 1 point over Texas, 24 points over Mississippi State and 6 points over Ole Miss and all 3 of those teams are 8-4 right now and 2 of them were on the road.

Our 3 best wins are 7 points over Pitt (8-4), 27 points over LSU (9-3), and 3 points over Bama (10-2) and 2 of them were on the road.

That's also the only wins Bama has over teams with winning records.

It’s funny, I go and read the NY6 bowl tie ins and regulations, and all of the bowls say they “have to take the highest ranked team out of …”. The only exceptions are rematches and the playoff.

Sugar Bowl: Has to take the highest ranked SEC team that isn’t in the playoff VS the highest ranked team from Big12 that isn’t in the playoff.

Orange Bowl: Has to take the highest ranked SEC/Big10/Big12 team that isn’t in the playoff VS ACC champion or highest ACC ranked team that isn’t in the playoff.

Then you have the Rose Bowl that’s just like, yeah, technically Ohio State is the highest ranked team in our conference tie in but nah, we don’t want them. Let us hand pick our team.

I would laugh so hard if the Orange Bowl was like, hey, they got to choose so we will too and then they pass over OSU to say we want an orange out. UT orange VS Clemson orange in the Orange Bowl. The marketing just sells itself

What I’ve learned…

Schedule a weak OOC and fight for an easy schedule. Wins only matter. Playoff is complete BS. It needs to be 12 teams right now. It’s still a popularity contest.

Only issue I have with that is that we produced a 56-0 shutout win with Milton over an SEX school who has wins over Florida and Will Levis. Speaking of Levis, our win over him should be enough to get in the playoffs by itself.

Yet you appear to be defending Bama, a team that needed help from the officials to avoid a loss to Texas. Only 3 of Bama's wins are over FBS teams with a winning record. Three, out of a 12-game schedule. Tell me again how they should be in the Top 10 and ahead of Tennessee, a team they lost to.

Listen we have watched the Vols more than anyone else...no one and I mean NO ONE in this thread will say the Vols are as good or better with Milton starting instead of Hooker. So if that's the angle then I would at least agree with it, even if I still don't like it.

I would agree, but there is zero proof that it's true. There is, however, proof that we can still score a ton with Milton.

Eh. America is probably the most arrogant and entitled country when it comes to the world stage. I love her, but it is what it is. And I don't think we should eat and sleep worry about what the world thinks of us, but a bit of humility and self-awareness is generally a good thing.

An underdog latecomer telling the world what to call their favorite sport because we beat a bad team just reeks of everything the world says we are.

Well, I am sick of the world telling us what we are and how we should be….just as sick as other states telling Tennessee what we should be. Let the fans have a moment!

It’s not about the Cotton Bowl. It’s about Tennessee not getting what they deserve because Ohio State has decided they want what Tennessee deserves. Of course the fans will support the team and go to the Cotton Bowl if that’s what we’re given. But we will complain about how it happened.

Except that is not how it works for other teams or the guidelines set up to make the decision.
