This is precisely correct. Either clarify, or don't get mad when rumors start. Give cryptic non-answers, blow a game with historic incompetence, and then get mad when folks ponder if the two might be connected somehow? In the instant information age, that's malpractice.

I'm not giving the media (social or otherwise) a pass or justifying their actions. I'm just saying the outcome was predictable and could have been managed better.

OR. . . If there was no fight or locker room rift, how could Coach Heupel possibly have predicted the absurd rumor would catch like wildfire or that a prominent sports analyst would present the rumor as fact? Players miss games all the time. They miss for injuries, academics, illness, personal reasons, etc. Most of the time, it's not anyone's business to know the details of the absence outside of the football program. Gossip is childish. For someone like Herbstreit, it's unprofessional and reckless.

Personally would be happy to just see Hooker in the final group so he can be part of the awards show (top 4 or 5 I think they invite?). With us losing that 2nd game and him missing a chance to get more stats against Vandy his chances vanished.

Bryce: 64.1% 3007 passing yds, 27 TDs, 5 INTs, 195 rushing yds, 4 TDs
Hendo: 69.6% 3135 passing yds, 27 TDs, 2 INTs, 430 rushing yds, 5 TDs

Really see no way Bryce finishes above Hendon when he has worst numbers in every category AND played a weaker SOS...but of course logic and Heisman voting rarely go hand and hand.

Not Trans. Italian and hot tho.

Most men haven't, because that is disgusting. I have a level of expertise in this matter as I have two daughters that have been eighth graders in the past and one that presently is an eighth grader. If any of them ever came home and told me that story about one of their teachers, that teacher had better hope the police arrest him first before I get there.
Hear, hear, Brother.

Also just a heads up the Biletnikoff Award has narrowed things to their 3 finalist and a new round of Fan Voting has started today going until December 5th.

Jalin Hyatt: 67 receptions, 1267 yards, 15 TDs (2nd in yards and tied for first in TDs)
Marvin Harrison Jr.: 72 receptions, 1157 yards, 12 TDs
Xavier Hutchinson: 107 receptions, 1171 yards, 6 TDs (1st in receptions)

I have no idea how Xavier made it to the final 3...Nathaniel Dell for Houston or Charlie Jones from Purdue were more deserving IMO.

FANVOTE: Which finalist should win the Biletnikoff Award in 2022? « Biletnikoff Award

AH, I just give ya'll a hard time. People like what they like. I personally don't care for any sport where the average score is 1-0 (or recently 0-0 :)) Not big fan of baseball either, unless it's Tony V's baseball. Same for hockey.
Tony V’s baseball is the only kind of baseball to like.

Yeah the “me” power is shifting from the coaches who make millions to the players who are the product on the field. I’m personally all for it. Adapt or die. This is a billion dollar industry.

A lot of this could’ve been avoided if the coaches/schools would’ve lobbied the NCAA harder over the years for programs that would be in the interest of the players. But they liked having all the power. Made their jobs easier. If they would’ve partnered with players for changes and worked with them then they likely could’ve avoided this being the Wild Wild West. Could’ve had a contract in place with agreed upon parameters for this whole thing.

Players had been complaining for a long time. It wasn’t a new phenomenon. But they were shrugged off.

Now instead the coaches/schools got smacked upside the head with reality.
Here is reality...if you continue to screw US over...it will all fall apart. We are what makes this go..not the f'n players and not the f'n coaches.

Screw them all.

This is the type of cryptic comment that upsets my acid reflux. Between LA and Metal dropping these bombs, my tummy is not happy.
We are screwed is what they are saying...sounds like we are going to have a f'n skeleton crew and Marco thinks it is a beautiful thing.

The end user is getting smacked upside the head, too. Schools aren't just absorbing those costs; they're passing some of them along to fans. And asking donors for more and more and more.

Not disagreeing about the lack of parity... but what happens when fans and donors start complaining?
Marco thinks it is a beautiful thing.

It's one of the stupidest high profile awards in all of sports. The fact that pretty much only offensive players even get invited should tell you everything you need to know about it. It's like homecoming queen, it's purely a popularity contest. It doesn't bother me at all that Hooker won't get invited, because it's a ridiculous, empty award anyway.

Byron Young: 34 total tackles, 10 TFL, 5 sacks
Jared Verse: 41 total tackles, 14.5 TFL, 7.5 sacks

Wonder if either would have seen improved numbers playing together...I'll be 100% honest, I think Young sandbagged a bit this year to make sure he got to the draft uninjured. I fully expect he opts out for the bowl game (which honestly might benefit us, give Pearce, Josephs more reps).

Young last year: 46 total tackles, 11.5 TFL, 5.5 sacks, 1 INT, 2 PDs

Also I'm sure he still gets a 1st round grade, but the drop off from Will Anderson was pretty crazy. 101 total tackles to 51, 31 TFL to 17, 17.5 sacks to 10. Of course that's with 3 extra games last year.

Ground is shaking and a fault line is forming. Two plausible theories here on how to respond as this shakes out.

I choose to believe we are on the right side of the fault line and will benefit on putting guys in the league. Which ultimately when the dust settles and “the market” has history, players will continue to mostly go where they have the best chance at getting drafted where better money awaits.

Wonder if they can call unsportsmanlike conduct against what you do to your own player?
I wonder about targeting. . .

You go in for a tackle, lower your head and the player moves, causing you to spear your teammate who is also trying to make the tackle. Would they still call targeting?
