Heupel typically seems laid back and happy after wins. Seemed genuinely aggravated Sat. Was that aggravation directed primarily at national media or first signs of frustration with the bubble that is being UT’s coach?

Huep is aggregated that the culture is in question in the media’s eyes when it’s damn well not. He probably think that’s a shot at his players and he takes offense to that.

Maybe so, but I don't think he is changing and I don't think he should.

I don’t want him to change. I just find it weird that SBV caught so much pushback for simply pointing out one of the oldest and most constant realities of major sports: if you leave room for speculation, speculation there will be.

I really think most of it was directed at Herbsuck. He emphatically stated that there was fighting amongst the players and He was picking Vandy to win outright. He stated it as fact where most were speculating.

BTW, did Herbsuck get called out on that? Did Vol Tweeter drag him by his jewels, assuming he still has them.

Of course he doesn’t, and I think he handled the ordeal the right way. But if you choose leave an information vacuum, it gets filled, often with nonsense. He’s been around the major college football circus most of his life; he should know this.

I love how protective he is of his guys. But getting mad that there was irresponsible speculation about the largely unaddressed Banks situation is kind of like getting mad that an apple falls to the ground when you throw it in the air. It was the inevitable result of the course of action he chose to take, right or wrong.

This is precisely correct. Either clarify, or don't get mad when rumors start. Give cryptic non-answers, blow a game with historic incompetence, and then get mad when folks ponder if the two might be connected somehow? In the instant information age, that's malpractice.

I'm not giving the media (social or otherwise) a pass or justifying their actions. I'm just saying the outcome was predictable and could have been managed better.

Good point. I probably responded a little harsh to @SpringBokVol

There is no way to know how his passing was affected by the weather conditions.

I don’t think it’s his passing being affected by the rain and wet field as much as it slowed down the WRs sprinting to catch the bomb.
His passes looked like they were where they needed to be (except for 1), but the receivers weren’t able to get there…

Yes. A one loss TCU is in. They are in the playoff no matter what happens next weekend. 1 > 2. It is UGA, Michigan, and TCU in the playoff already. It’s between USC and OSU for the fourth spot. No chance Bama or us makes the playoff.

Never really rooted for usc before, but if it keeps osu out of the playoffs, then go trojans!

Golesh to Cincy? No way right?
i don't know if he's connected to that job or not, but that's not a terrible job at all and if he were to be in the running for it and he wants to be a head coach, there's a lot worse places to start. i hope he doesn't leave for obvious reasons, but wouldn't blame him if he did for that one.

Nope. It's also ridiculous to me to think we get to decide whether a coach has a right to get mad.

Yeah, but it happens all the time. When coaches get publicly upset, it is usually heavily scrutinized.

Thankfully, Heupel is emotionally intelligent enough not to let it all spill out in a press conference.
