And fans and media didn’t help either. He and the team just came off a embarrassing loss. He doesn’t owe us a explanation on a rumored cat fight in the locker room. It’s his job to contain and control it. I trust he will, otherwise, why still coach here?
I agree with you and with what others have said.

We don’t need to know. Totally fine with that.

But I think he could have diffused the situation better/differently

It is just unfortunate that it took place and had such an impact.

It's time. Put in yer waaaaayyy too early 2023 prediction. I say we go 9-3 and keep the steam going.

UVA + 3 OOC scrubs - 4 wins

Vandy/Mizzou - 2 wins

At Bama...UGA - 2 losses

Win 3/4 vs TAMU, UF, USCjr, UK.

Let's go Joe!

2024 and on will be riproaring fun. Lots of playoff games 👀 👀 👀

9 wins most likely including a massacre of the USCjr chickens in Neyland. But I’m not marking any team down as an automatic loss. Those days are over. Every game is one we can win.

Evidently Cincinnati might have some interest in hiring Hartline from Ohio State as HC. If that happens, you have to think that Tate would find a way to make another visit to UT.

Haven’t seen him get much more than mop up duty the majority of the season..
He has played quite a bit. He has had a few minor injuries and it also helps him in a rotation. He is still evolving into a more every down player endurance wise. Being able to rotate bodies keeps him fresher. I do think his reps will continue to be pretty substantial. Just my take. GBO!

The issue with this is
1. you keep a starting LB home from a road game.

2. you don’t say why

3. You get absolutely dragged and lose.

4. Rumors start to fly about why and about fights in the locker room.

5. You still don’t say why.

Fans and media will run with this stuff if not addressed.

He can be pissed but he didn’t help the situation.

He handled it perfectly. Do we really need 24/7 access to the locker room? Cmon now

Okay, so I love me some JMIII and nothing would make me happier than seeing a HH2.0 season from him in '23. But in the Vandy game those consistent overthrows were damn near identical to early '21.

If they were 1st qtr only I'd dismiss it as adrenaline. But they're not. And it has sounded like he's aces in practice but those gameday throws are consistently about 3° too hot.

So how do you coach that out of a guy? Serious question. I feel like him dialing that in is potentially the difference between a reloading year and possibly another legit run at the bigtime.

It probably is adrenaline or nerves. Give the boy some Valium before the game I guess.

He doesn't have to. Stupid rumors are stupid

There are certain things that just don’t have to be said, and usually, it’s because you are protecting the player and not anyone else. There is no reason to suggest/explain/insinuate why because it could hurt Banks even more. He’s a players coach, and he will take the heat for his guys.
He just wanted to wait to prove it on the field also, I think. And, he did

Of course he doesn’t, and I think he handled the ordeal the right way. But if you choose leave an information vacuum, it gets filled, often with nonsense. He’s been around the major college football circus most of his life; he should know this.

I love how protective he is of his guys. But getting mad that there was irresponsible speculation about the largely unaddressed Banks situation is kind of like getting mad that an apple falls to the ground when you throw it in the air. It was the inevitable result of the course of action he chose to take, right or wrong.
