The issue with this is
1. you keep a starting LB home from a road game.

2. you don’t say why

3. You get absolutely dragged and lose.

4. Rumors start to fly about why and about fights in the locker room.

5. You still don’t say why.

Fans and media will run with this stuff if not addressed.

He can be pissed but he didn’t help the situation.

I get what you’re saying but a coach at any level should never publicly throw a player under the bus unless it’s legal related. That’s when you could really start to lose a locker room. Stuff like that needs to remain in house.

Coaches do not discuss these things. The national media such as KH would have never run with that story if it were Ohio State or AL. He had every right to be pissed with them making up stories about what goes on inside his locker room.

People think they are entitled to way more information than we really are. Too many are more interested in keeping drama and controversy stirred up than having a successful football team. Coaches shouldn't have to waste time addressing every out of control rumor that pops up. No one inside the program said anything about locker room problems that I am aware of. All of that noise came from "insiders" and speculation I believe.

I don’t understand how coaches, even stand-ins like Saturday, consistently mess up timeout situations. Is it just insanely chaotic on the sideline to the point where they actually lose track of what’s going on and how much time is left? Why do timeouts go uncalled every week?! It blows my mind.

There are certain things that just don’t have to be said, and usually, it’s because you are protecting the player and not anyone else. There is no reason to suggest/explain/insinuate why because it could hurt Banks even more. He’s a players coach, and he will take the heat for his guys.

A simple "he violated team rules" would have sufficed. You can't blame speculation of you're unwilling to stifle it. I don't see the big deal though, the speculation was pretty minor, and no one outside the message boards got too riled up about it omr way or another.

That’s not what I’m saying at all. I’m saying that if you don’t want speculation, don’t put a product on the field or run the program in a way that invites it. The issue wasn’t that we lost, it was how, and following a bunch of cloak and dagger crap. I am Heupel’s biggest fan, but he has nobody but himself to blame for the speculation.
