Going back and watching Milton’s throws against Vanderbilt again now and I’m a lot less worried. He still had some errant throws that weren’t necessarily weather related, mainly the ones in the 15-20 yard range that he rocketed high, but I can see why he hit the first long pass to Hyatt and then kind of had issues with the deep shots since. If you look at the pass to Hyatt, the ball starts off inside the numbers and you can see Hyatt look up and track it, but as it was coming down the wind took it about 1-2 yards from right to left and Hyatt made a nice grab by turning his body a bit to get it. The wind had some effect on that ball. From that moment on he was putting less air under the ball and trying to drive it through the wind, just like on a windy day how a golfer will use less loft and try keep the flight of the ball lower. Lower to ground, less wind. When Milton did finally put more air under it again on one throw to Squirrel, the ball started out with a line going towards the numbers and ended up just inside the hash marks. Both of those throws where he put air under it were going to the same direction on the field and both times the ball moved the same way, right to left. If the wind in the stadium was anything like I had at my house about 20 min away, I can see why a rough throwing day happened. Hooker even commented during his interview how the weather put a damper on the “get your popcorn ready” comment he had on his Instagram story. I think the weather effected more than most though. JMO.
