I just think the secondary was in a worse spot than we realized...and unfortunately Willie/Banks haven't fixed it yet.

If you deep dive then it's not too difficult to realize it's a multi layered issue.

1. Talent is missing, the 2023 class has more top 500 players in the secondary than are currently on the roster (let that sink in).
2. Pruitt & Co. poorly recruited and poorly developed the secondary while here.

The best talent that Pruitt/Co. had brought in that was stayed at UT was Alontae Taylor (former WR) & Jaylen McCollough.

Tyus Fields - transferred out
Warren Burrell - outside top 500
Key Lawrence - top 100, transferred out

Frustrating that so many of the Pruitt recruits didn't pan out. Because the roster is still performing with talent that was inherited.

Just the top 500 guys that are gone.
Wanya Morris, Henry To'o To'o, Quavaris Crouch, Eric Gray, Tyus Fields, Jackson Lowe, Savion Williams, Melvin McBride, Brian Maurer, Key Lawrence, Harrison Bailey, Malachi Wideman, Morven Joseph, Martavius French, Dee Beckwith, Aaron Willis, Kaidon Salter, Kaemen Marley, Julian Nixon, Tiyon Evans,

At least half
so I think we have all learned to handle losing to Vandy.

Seriously? If I ever learn to handle losing to vandy as a VFL, then I’m braindead and my heart has exploded. There’s no part of me that could ever agree with that statement.

I realize that all too well.
Seems a little much to have to scroll through half the post in the “recruiting forum Football talk” thread that are not football related.
Not against discussion on anything but an off topic thread for it would be my preference.
I usually end up skipping 20 pages cause I don’t have time to read through all

I’m not doing any VERSUS. They’re on the same damn team, Chris! When you’re doing comparisons for the purpose of PROJECTIONS, you need to take EVERYTHING into account. Hooker is acknowledged as a success with this quarterback thing and he isn’t judged only by his first eight passes in a game…cuz that’s stupid! And Pitt dropped several INT’s against Hooker…didn’t count! BOTH of us are “smart” enough to not insist they HAPPENED.

Your last paragraph shows the Dark Side hasn’t removed all the good in you. 😉 You put a full game together and win? No need for EXCUSES. Grousing over the style points of INCOMPLETIONS that didn’t result in interceptions is like peering over Da Vinci’s first eight strokes of the Mona Lisa, calling it mediocre garbage and demanding he paint over it with Dogs Playing Poker.
This feels like a circular conversation because it seems like you are trying to make a deeper and more complex point than I am.

To your point, I agree that 4 or 5 throws don't define an entire game. At the same time, though, I also don't agree with the original poster's comment that Milton hasn't been overthrowing guys this year. That's just patently false. He did it 5 days ago on at least of third of his attempts. Do they stick out out more because of his reputation, last year, and limited attempts in a single game, last Saturday? Yes. Do they define his entire performance, this year? No. Do they necessarily serve as a predictive forecast of an entire game's worth of throw? No. But I can't agree with an absolute statement that claims he hasn't been overthrowing receivers, this year.

We can agree to disagree if you want, and instead agree that we both (all) want to see Bazooka Joe come out and light the world on fire, Saturday, with precision and accuracy. Happy Thanksgiving!

This word “HATE” gets thrown around and completely miss used. CLEARLY no one is hating Milton. I hope he’s our QB for the next 15-16 games and is a HT winner. But he still has a ton of work to do CLEARLY.
When people speak of Milton "hate", most are referring to "hating on" (meaning always degrading the man). But....we had a top Heisman candidate at QB. Expecting the back up to come in and perform equally or better right away is kind of ridiculous. That's what many have set as the expectation though.

Milton is going to be in a tough spot Saturday with potentially two starting receivers out and poor weather. Hopefully he manages it really well...and hopefully our fans give him some leeway if he doesn't.

Yeah, I saw a good bit of that on my way out. One Tennessee fan was walking with a cane (although he appeared to be in his 30s), and a SC fan was giving him hell, telling him all about how he just "took that cock".

Shoulda beaten him senseless with that cane.

😈

Had a young punk employee at ACE hardware yell go gamecocks as I walked by in my Tennessee shirt. I stopped and walked back to him. Asked if he was a gamecock fan? He said nope. So I asked if he just liked the feeling of having the gamecock in his mouth. His buddies laughed at him and he left the area without another word to me. Should have just kept walking, but couldn’t turn the other cheek.

You're Chuck Jones' zombie?!?!?
He was great !!!! I have a friend of mine that I haven't seen for years, Barry Cook that is an animator for real. He co-directed Mulan and worked on Tron, Beauty and the Beast and several other projects. I personally can't draw good stick men.:)
