I dont think it will take a step back at all. I believe Milton is more talented that Hooker. The coaching staff thought the same thing last season. Hooker took the job and never gave it back after Miltons injury. This will be a coming out party for Milton saturday. He will throw for 450 and 5 tds rush for 80 with another TD. He will win the Heisman next season.

This is setting up to be like the 97 and 98 seasons. Peyton got us close like Hooker. Tee took us over the top like i believe Milton will do.
Wow I was having the same dream, dang woke up a little too soon. 🥺

That assumes we beat Vandy. Everything right down to the weather points to a Vandy win. I don't wager but if I did, I'd put money on VU Saturday.
We can run the ball very effectively too. Plus, now we have a 245# RB at QB that is willing to run you over. If our guys come in focused and fired up, I like our chances. Who knows what our DC will plan, but with the weather and what they do best, it would seem the best defensive gameplan is stop the run, spy Wright with Banks or Beasley, and make Wright beat you through the air. However, what do I know. I don’t get paid 2 million.

So just because you don't get angry, no one else should either? Some of us get caught up in our fervent, unhealthy fanhood and it effects our feels. This SCar loss hurt me worse than my liver transplant. I didn't start the season even thinking about the CFP, but they dangled that carrot out there and I wanted it. I wanted it bad. And then they **** the bed, and it all went down the drain. So I get that you handle your disappointment differently, and I'm cool with that, but why can't I and others be completely pissed off about the loss?

I can't speak to how much Vol football means to you or anyone else. It's kind of dumb to compare "fanhood" anyway. But I can speak to what it means to me. I live for the Fall when the Vols play football. Does that make me a sad individual? Probably. But it is what it is. And to be oh so close and have it snatched away in such a fashion; I mean a total embarrassment..... Yeah, I'm pissed right now, and probably will be a few weeks. That's how hard it hits me. And I don't like it, but I also don't know how to turn it off.

We're all different. Let people deal however they deal.
I get what you are saying. As a long time VOLS fan, The SC game was a gut punch like no other. I agree with VolGee that in the big scheme of things, this isn't that important. That said, the Stoerner fumble, National Championship, field goal Florida win and Dobbnail boot are really great memories. I also don't think that my husband and I ever grieved a game like we did this one.

Perhaps why this hurts so badly is due to the fact that it was so unexpected. They were obviously over achieving, but we started believing and ignored the obvious deficiencies that came back and bit us. Plus, add that in with Hooker getting hurt. We aren't getting any younger, and the league is getting better all around. It's a tough road to get there.

I am rambling, just sad with the rest of you.

And, the team that lost to the team, that lost like THAT...what does that say about them?
I bet Alabama would destroy SC. Doesn't matter. What hurts is all the respect we got nationally going into that game and after what had been a fantastic season pretty much evaporated after that drubbing. This loss was like a kick in the nuts.

Been watching plays again...Rattler will never throw that accurately again.
I 100% agree with this. If he had been playing like that all year, they are likely 8-2 coming into our game and definitely ranked. Also, I think we would have had a little different plan. It sucks that he had the game of the year against us, but I know we all agree we did make it extremely easier for him.

And, I would bet you would have bet, 3 to 6 months ago, Alabama would destroy us.

Also, if a chance at 11-2 (2 of those 11 wins being Bama and Florida), and a chance at a major Bowl, and a chance to finish the season ranked inside the Top 10; all firsts in well over a decade...if that's NOT a fantastic season to you, after ALLLLL we have been through for going on 20 years...just 2 yrs removed from 3-7, with an offense that was scoring for Kentucky, and the beginning of an NCAA investigation...just 2 yrs into a tenure MOST were not that excited about whenever it was announced...if that's not a fantastic season to you, I will bet that you're the type of person that a gift of a million dollars, is a kick to the nuts because it's not two million.

With all due respect.

One of the worst things you can do to someone is to give them hope and then snatch it away.

Only to folks that do not know the ways of buddha. Attachment, especially to mere hopes, is the root of suffering.

This is a learning poing dalai.

Considering our terrible defense, it's amazing that we had a chance at the playoffs. To get there, we'd need to be 11-1. We'd likely have lost in the semis so we'd have finished 11-2. We beat Vandy and win our bowl and we still end 11-2. While the feeling about the record would be much, much more positive if we'd made the playoffs, I still would love to see that 11-2 record and a solid top 10 finish. Having said all that, somehow I just get the feeling we end up 9-4 and the all that positivity and goodwill this team and staff had going for it with those great wins over LSU, bama and UF goes up in smoke. And one would have to wonder what this type of collapse would mean to our recruiting efforts. Yeah...Saturday's game vs Vandy is massive. Hard to imagine being in this spot just a few short weeks ago.
I think you’re right. The vandy game has now become a massive statement game for us. Milton has a chance to show he’s been coached up. The team can accomplish a milestone not reached since 2001 if that’s correct? They need to go out and take care of business. The program desperately needs this and it’s odd to say but it’s true. We had a Cinderella season and didn’t finish. The team, coaches and program need to finish this season strong and prove next year the Tennessee is back wasnt another flash in the pan. This team needs to be back in the spotlight for more than 3/4 a season to show recruits what this place can be. If we keep momentum the energy around the program will go next level.

I survived Dr. Julian, so I don't think you are.

So did my sister and nephew - for one year each.

Back in the dark ages I would have business lunches at Regas. Nearly every time I went he was there with his buds, showing his azz. I felt sorry for the servers who had to wait on him. I'm sure they did rock, paper, scissors before having to wait on him. Bill Regas would always spend some time with him to calm the tidal waves.

Bbut he has a restaurant in that beautiful, picturesque crap stain off of 75.

This is the kind of " holier than thou" BS that chaps my A$$. I and others have cheered for this team longer than you have been alive. In that time, we have seen our team play for 1 national championship. Just 1. We had the opportunity to play for another one by beating two bad teams. Instead of handling business, we went into the game thinking we could win based on our ranking. Many of us are upset with the coaches and the players. In 40-50 years after us old grumpy people are dead; you will look back on this game and wonder how they could be so stupid to lose to that SC team. Maybe we don't get another chance at a championship in the next 40-50 years. You never know.

When I watch our rivals when championship after championship over the last 10-15 years and we piss away our opportunity it makes me furious. If you don't like that it makes some of us mad, then too bad.
You can be mad all you want. Just don't be mad not all of us are mad.

Man I stay off the computer for a day, come back and BAM !!!! What has happened we have trolls, disgruntled loyal, fans, disgruntled ban wagon fans and from scanning through the post several it appears trying to take my spot as village idiot...........I'm stunned....I think.

I mean, we have people becoming disgruntled when the opposing team gets their first first down in the game. It was a miserable performance and we will always have two factions when that happens. Those that remain mad about it and one to belabor it from now until forever and those that heal more quickly and appreciate what we have done. This time is a little different as we had a great opportunity in front of us and it is stupid-ass Shane Beamer, but that should not make us disregard the rest of the year IMO.
