Kellie Harper discussion/debate thread [merged]

Coaches getting heated in timeouts w/each other as one poster said yesterday and Rickea Jackson walking off the court after losing is pretty telling. (Not the first time after a loss she has shown her frustrations, just this time she left instead of doing the handshake line)

And then there are so-called fans waiting to jump on anything that could be detrimental. How do you know Rickea didn't have to go to the restroom? You automatically jump on board with someone who also doesn't have a clue and make up this story about Rickeas immaturity or Jon's passion. Go ahead and take the last word again.....thats who you are.

Sure, except Kellie had to reign her in after the IU loss at home to get in the line, it is documented in that thread. Not sure that is automatically jump on board... you enjoy going back on my post so you'll find my thoughts there.

Still amazing how a troll can read a persons mind just by looking at their facial expression or how they move.
I dont think anyone is attempting to read minds , but actions shown on camera. Sorry i believe my eyes . Not trolling neither just voicing frustration in the one way street of criticism of players but not of the staff.

As frustrating as it is for some, the obvious is always what you see. The easy rebuttal to anything not on par with likeminded people is you must be a troll.

The fact is none of you know what happened. When that is brought to light, a lot of posts here make more sense.

Great, I have my choice between umpteen "I told you so" posts and the inevitable "Pat woulda . ." posts. Do these ever run out of gas?

Since it's still my team, I'm going to be real slow to start spreading locker room crap as gospel, not that what we say makes a difference. This has to be an incredibly fragile time for the much vaunted culture. Emotions are fraught I'm sure. Part of the huge challenge KJH has is channelling it all in the right direction. Meanwhile, I'm going with Rickster's theory, she had to pee!! Seriously, maximum class must be displayed at all times tho, and I'm sure any issue will be addressed.

Of course the "Told you so" crowd is going to run with any hint of trouble as further confirmation bias that they were right along. Did ya'll know they knew it first and were right all along?

You can go with the "give her more time post" or "Holly bad insert example post"

I do agree that this is a fragile time for the team and the brand. You look to the leadership to get it corrected.... has the team had players only meeting. They don't work all the time but it does show initiative of trying to get it right.

LOL I was just thinking about that. I expect to hear any time they've done exactly that. One of the oldest cliche sports moves of all time, but sometimes effective I guess. Sure can't hurt..

Agree, it feels like its coming. Who calls it and who leads it will be interesting.

They need it, and the PGs really need to hear what their teammates have to say. There was another sequence where Walker and Rickea were running a 2-on-1 fast breakand Walker elected to take (and miss) the shot. Rickea chirped at her that she should have passed and Walker said "Relax". It would be one thing if this wasn't a pattern...but yeah it's a pattern for her and Powell. They need to stop holding on to the ball and remember that they have teammates. And it just gets worse when games are tight.

AMB, I don’t recall anyone else voicing this and I am like you. Both Walker and Powell have the tendency to use their 5 feet 6 or 7 body to attack the 6 feet 3,4,5,6 bodies in the paint And not passing. When you are that size and have two or three big players on you, then you are at a disadvantage. RJ and JH would be more effective doing this because of their size. But too many times the two smaller ones challenge the bigs and get swallowed up.

Ill say it again , Walker and Powell both starting is not helping the team. One needs to come off the bench to spell the other.
Walker hasn't started the last few games.
Ironic, because that's what sealed Stanford's loss to SC when the Stanford player called a timeout that they didn't have. So two high profile games in a span of 2 days where there was confusion as to how many time outs they had. Ouch...
Was that the Stanford coaches or did the Stanford player just call it in a panic?

A long time ago, a Michigan men's player called a t.o. he didn't have in the final and cost Michigan the natty.

Seems like poor Kellie is snakebit at this point. We'll see if she is as resilient as a coach as she was as a player. I bet she won't be taking the LVs back to Atlantis any time soon.

Poor Chris Weber.

It was a Stanford player (Irifian?) who called the timeout. Tara was confused and seemed to ask the ref who called a timeout. But in situations like this where you are hoping for a FT miss and need to get a rebound, that would be the first thing you drill in your team's head to remind them not to call a timeout.

I flip back and forth as it regards to Walker. She has experience playing with the team, is one of the better on the ball defenders, and I'm sure Kellie NEVER has to coach effort with her. But she also does things that are so maddening. She probably should be in the rotation. Just not sure if it's as a starter or 2nd off the bench.
