That's not it. Sometimes during a game things will not go your way. No one before this game thought SC would score 35 much less in the first half. It's about assignment football. By all 11 guys on defense. Nothing more

Willie Martinez: I’ve given you passes all season long for our awful, inexcusable secondary play, hoping that we’d improve. At times it seemed like we might have improved but, inevitably, we prove how bad we are…like tonight. Allow me to be an oracle of the obvious: we do not have an SEC-quality secondary and any blind grandmother in Soddy Daisy can see it. Time and again, our DBs have been used, owned, embarrassed, burned and just plain beaten by average QBs and receivers. We have seen it all season. We are seeing that again tonight. Our DBs cannot cover, they cannot play man, and, Lord help me, they cannot tackle. They are lost, completely lost, on what seems like every other play.

This unit — your unit — remains this team’s Achilles Heel. Through 9.5 games, your unit is the weakest on the team. And again tonight, they alone are responsible for way too many points against us. Your unit is helping make Rattler and his receivers look like All-Americans…as they have so many average QBs this season. Unacceptable. This is not how championship secondaries play. It’s not even how decent SEC secondaries play. It is inexcusable.

You are the coach. Not that it matters to anyone but me, but I hold you entirely responsible. So does my blind grandmother.

Tim Banks ain't out there getting beat in coverage, missing assignments, and whiffing on tackles. Flowers let Rattler run for a 1st down. Didnt atte.pt to engage, just hung back and got stiff armed like Rattler was DH.

Thank God that HH is not weak willed like the wimpy masses posting here tonight. We will get to find out if this revival of Rattler can be sustained in the second half. They hit us square in the mouth, got help from the refs they probably did not need but we trail by less than 2 TD.

They would've had them against any other coach. I have a feeling USCe will always go for it on fourth down. I don't know of anyone else who would've went for it on 4th and 6 in the first quarter! They've gambled alot and have won so far, but luck usually only goes so far.

Just go poach Derek Mason, Barry Odom, or Jim Leonard if he doesn’t get the head coach job this off-season. We are spending tons of money. Time to invest in top tier DC

I'd settle for a mid-tier. Right now we have janitor-tier. The average middle school DC would do a better job with our defense than this crap.

Yeah, Martinez seems to be one of those guys that always seems to find a job even though his body of work is pretty abysmal.

I can't recall his name at the moment but J.Pruitt made him our DC. He had coached DB's for the Raiders after doing same stint at Bama. D.Ansley was his name. Worth a call imo. This is sickening.
