If you have twitter and haven't read this thread, do yourself a favor and read it. It really shows the genius of Heupel and this offense
Not sure what this has to do with football 'cruitin, but I think you're over reacting to some of our fans over reacting to a loss to the Buffs. I don't think the majority...the VAST majority...of our fan base feels like you describe. I and many others are very thankful for what Barnes has done to elevate the UT program to the heights that we're presently enjoying. To most of those who really follow hoops knows that these early games are a lot of experimentation with combinations and a loss like today is a teachable moment. A coach can preach intensity, defensive effort and the like, but when a team is "full of itself", it's usually falling on somewhat dead ears. After a loss like this, I don't think Barnes will have any difficulty getting their full attention. I think this team really needed a wake up call. They simply felt like they could roll the ball out there and win by 10 tonight. They didn't have the energy on defense and they really were sloppy and settled for the 3 ball. Didn't work to get the ball into the paint and didn't really attack the rim like I think they're capable of. Mentally, they weren't fully invested today. And Phillips needs to understand he can't do jack from the bench and needs to be smarter with his fouls. What legitimately bothers me so much about Barnes haters is that they care more about being right than they do about Tennessee winning games or the end product.
It's like a fetish they have for Barnes failing. I don't understand the obsession.
Basketball wins huge games and it's crickets. Lose an early season game when you're breaking in a new group of guys - and your heart and soul big man goes down with a bad ankle injury and that leads to getting owned in the paint - and it's like a celebration. "I tOLd yOu SO!"
Tennessee historically sucks at basketball. We currently have a hall of fame coach, one of the winningest coaches in basketball history, coaching in Knoxville. He's won regular season and tournament SEC titles. He took this program from the bottom of the barrel to #1 rankings.
He's getting players drafted annually for the first time since.... ever?
Go look at Tennessee basketballs historic recruits.
6/10 all time recruits in TN history have been brought here by Barnes. (But I thought he couldn't recruit?) 3 by Pearl, 1 by Martin.
Rick Barnes is building report in this basketball program. He's making us nationally relevant for the long haul. He's making us a destination for a GENERATION of youth basketball players.
He may never have Final Four at Tennessee but if some of you would open your eyes you'd realize we are better in the long run because of him and what he's doing.
Today's performance means the guys need to work on chemistry and forming an identity. It means a big man needs to step up in place of Uros. That's it. 4 months of basketball to be played and it isn't decided in game 2.

Would be a nice consolation prize to play a team like Clemson in the Sugar Bowl and beat their ass by 30.Ok. Serious question. Are we really gonna be super pissed off if we don't make the playoffs?
Yes. I'll be ticked if we get screwed out of it, but seriously. We WILL have had an 11-1 season, with a Sugar Bowl! Who came close to expecting that before the season?
Enjoy the ride my friends.
