No, you still missed it. If we land a 3 star that is a 4 star on rivals only, we are quick to celebrate landing a 4 star. Ironically, he’s a 3 star on the one site that rates our classes the highest.

I've been visiting this forum for years. 247 has been WIDELY used as the default ranking around here. The entire time. I'm not quite sure what you're arguing.

You're right. We will ignore rivals team rankings come NSD when it has us the highest. No one will reference our ranking there.
I honestly don’t care about where we finish in anyones ratings. I care more for how they perform on the field. I’ve always believed every recruiting class should be reranked after 3 years.

That said On3 and 247 have been the most accurate so that’s where most in the know go.

Yes - they have. 100%. That's what makes it funny when we parrot the rivals or ESPN ranking when it benefits us.

Recruiting was a big reason CJH let the players keep playing. Programs are negative recruiting UT, claiming UT's success is all about Hooker and not sustainable without him. The coaches planned on playing Milton and letting him throw and run the offense with younger players to show that UT has built an elite program with staying power.

Once Milton was in, they were going to let him have his shot. It was the last home game, and the starters were out. These days, coaches have to recruit against the portal, as well as from it.
Somebody on sec network I think referenced recruiting as one of the reasons we did that and it totally makes sense.

What legitimately bothers me so much about Barnes haters is that they care more about being right than they do about Tennessee winning games or the end product.

It's like a fetish they have for Barnes failing. I don't understand the obsession.

Basketball wins huge games and it's crickets. Lose an early season game when you're breaking in a new group of guys - and your heart and soul big man goes down with a bad ankle injury and that leads to getting owned in the paint - and it's like a celebration. "I tOLd yOu SO!"

Tennessee historically sucks at basketball. We currently have a hall of fame coach, one of the winningest coaches in basketball history, coaching in Knoxville. He's won regular season and tournament SEC titles. He took this program from the bottom of the barrel to #1 rankings.

He's getting players drafted annually for the first time since.... ever?

Go look at Tennessee basketballs historic recruits.
6/10 all time recruits in TN history have been brought here by Barnes. (But I thought he couldn't recruit?) 3 by Pearl, 1 by Martin.

Rick Barnes is building report in this basketball program. He's making us nationally relevant for the long haul. He's making us a destination for a GENERATION of youth basketball players.

He may never have Final Four at Tennessee but if some of you would open your eyes you'd realize we are better in the long run because of him and what he's doing.

Today's performance means the guys need to work on chemistry and forming an identity. It means a big man needs to step up in place of Uros. That's it. 4 months of basketball to be played and it isn't decided in game 2.
Hey. How's that baby?
