Yo so I'm watching TV about 1am or so ESPN unfortunately was on.Talkjng to the wife and heard "After thjs performace today Drake Maye should be at the top of the Hesiman vote and he also didn't pad his stats against an inferior opponent to do it either"!I was like wait wtf did that say?Did dude take an underhanded pop shot at us just now?Had to rewind but sure enuff I was right. I guess that's why the douchenozzle was on at 1am.I couldn't tell u who it was got busy but was an asanine comment being the 13th ranked defense.
Wait, didn’t he play Wake Forest? It amazes me how they will do anything to keep Tennessee down.

New Odds of winning out per ESPN FPI remaining games. Gave LSU a very favorable 30% chance vs UGA just to be conservative and 50% in championship games for TCU and USC.

LSU: 18%

TCU: 21%

USC: 18%

Eliminated this week (these are huge because a 1-loss PAC champ was our biggest concern according to most and now they have been cut down from 3 teams to 1 team):
Oregon
UCLA

Odds of 0 teams winning out (we end up #3 behind UGA+OSU/Mich winner): 53%

Odds of exactly 1 team winning out (could end up #3 or #4 but we are most certainly in): ~36%

Total odds of very likely getting in as long as we take care of business: ~89%

Odds of exactly 2 teams winning out: ~10% (we could be left out if both teams are put in over us, which is reasonably possible)

Odds of all 3 winning out (committee would keep us out IF they believe just one out of LSU or USC is more worthy...likely possible): .6%

Folks, try not to get sucked into the talking heads narratives. They’re trying to drive ratings and keep things exciting over the next month. That’s their job. But the reality is Tennessee will have a better résumé than any other 1 loss team in America. So as long as the Vols take care of business these next two weeks they will 100% be in the playoffs.
It really is this. But he back and forth and scenarios and variables are enough to drive anyone crazy.

Just let it unfold. It's happening !

That's because EVERY game is a stat padder in the ACC. They literally haven't played a top-19 team. And the ONE team ranked on their schedule is ND, a 3 loss team whose 2 main wins are over...UNC and Clemson. Aka he's led them to 0 ranked wins. Clemson and UNC are also both winning their division...and neither could beat lowly ND. Just further tells you how AWFUL the ACC is.

Point being: Bailey Zappe of WKU should have won the Heisman the other year if stats vs nobodies mattered. But they don't. You actually have to play and perform vs SOMEONE to be considered.

Yep. Add Kansas too. First matchup with K State was close and that was without their starting QB
Honestly it’s probably best that if TCU only loses one, it’s in the conference championship game. Takes the ridiculous conference champ element out of it altogether.

Legendary team deserves some historical context:

* Career Passing Yards: Hooker is 34 yards away from #8 in all-time passing leaders for Tennessee, 341 yards from passing JG as #7 all-time, and 564 from passing Andy Kelly at #6. Very doable, mostly in the realm of probable with 2 games and a bowl (maybe two postseason games!). Dobbs and the top 5 are out of reach. Hooker will likely jump Francis and JG this week (or get close to it), and jump Kelly at Vandy to move to #6 all-time.

* Single-Season Passing Yards: Hooker currently has 2,888 passing yards in 2022, just outside the top-10 for a single season. This week Hooker will climb from #10 to #5, and we can follow along in real-time as he does it. He is likely to best his own 2021 season (57 yards), Dobbs' 2016 season (58 yards), Peyton's 1995 season (66 yards), Clausen's 2003 (80 yards) and 2001 (81 yards), and Ainge's 2006 (101 yards). He is 399 from #4 and 634 from #3 so it's safe to assume he will finish at least top 3 for this season. Bray's 2012 is within reach and Manning's 1997 would be a pretty crazy high mark to surpass. We'll have to see what he finishes this week with. If he gets 350+ again he's in the chase for #1.

* Career Passing TDs: Hooker needs 15 TD's to beat Bray on the all-time TD leaders list. Would be pretty impressive if he does that.

* Single-Season Passing TDs: Hooker will finish the season as the single-season passing TD leader for Tennessee Football. He is tied with Ainge's 2007 presently, and 3 TDs away from Bray's 2012. Manning's 1997 is just within reach, 5 TDs away. With games against SC and Vandy, he's likely to do it by the end of the regular season. Have to like his chances to put a bow on his magical season.

* Career Completions: Hooker averages just over 20 completions per game this year. He may or may not edge out Jeff Francis for #8 in career completions, I'm going with yes, but we'll see.

* Single-Season Completions: Hooker has 204 thus far in 2022. Hooker could get into the Top 10 this week (21 completions away from Dobbs' 2016). If he doesn't pass the three in front of him this week, then the Vanderbilt game is where he will really ascend into the next tier (top 4), surpassing Clausen's 2001 (23 away), Kelly's 1991 (24), Clausen's 2003 and Ainge's 2006 (29), Manning's 1996 (39), and Manning's 1995 (40). Obviously the defense we face in the bowl game will dictate how successful he can be there, but he should finish Top 3 after this season (64 from #3 Bray 2012).
Hooker needs 12 TD’s to tie Peyton in single season TD’s. I believe you are looking at 2021 numbers for Hooker.

I’m not saying I disagree that our resume would be better. It is and it would be. But, the Committee is comprised of humans and not computers. Humans have biases and are irrational. There is a strong disdain for the SEC and how many years we have seen 2 SEC teams in the playoffs. USC is a historic program that would draw big TV numbers and keep the West Coast market engaged in the playoffs. If USC runs the table, I just can’t see them being left out, even if I think we are the better team with the better resume. Internal politics will keep them in. I would love love love to be proven wrong, but it just feels like that is exactly what will happen, which is why I am rooting hard for the Bruins next week.
That is all reasonable. I just disagree with your assessment of the Committee. I do not think they are looking to keep out multiple SEC schools in order to put in a weaker conference champion. I think they really will try to put the 4 best teams in. The media that you allude to that spreads contrary views are NOT the people that create the CFP poll.

I think selling the product and ensuring the consumers engagement is a much bigger factor than you think. Southern Cal is one of the two biggest markets in this country. If there's a way they can get that into the equation they will.

Dude probably doesn't even know Hooker wasn't in padding his stats during that touchdown. Something will happen and Hooker will be second. It's the Tennessee way for sure...
