Hooker will have to get it together and show some veteran presence and composure. Georgia and their crowd shook him up so bad mentally it was awful to watch. Like he’s never played a road game before. Hold the ball for 10 seconds, overthrow receivers multiple times. Draw in on Tillman which has been a issue in the past when he’s in there playing. I mean it was just a bad game. There were plays there to be had. Just didn’t hit them.
Luckily his collegiate football career is a story of Hendon rising from the ashes.
He was told he wasn't good enough for VT.
He got portaled/recruited over here, still fought for his starting role, and hung in there to earn it.
Got schooled in his first SEC road game @ Florida last year.
Came back out and smoked Missouri and South Carolina the following weeks.
Put his body on the line against Ole Miss, almost carried the team to the W. Had to leave the game with an injury.
Could have easily sat out the next week but chose to play on the road AT Bama. Literally got his teeth knocked out early in the game but still helped the team put up a fight well into the 2nd half.
Came back and persevered at Kentucky in a shootout that required his athleticism.
The very next week he got smoked multiple times by the elite Georgia defense but didn't back down.
He is tough. He has proven his leadership. All of this is built on the foundation of his faith. His team looks to him to be a leader and a warrior. He has answered the call time and time again.
So while this latest loss is the first challenge of this season, it's not the first time he's had to pick himself up in his collegiate career.
I think that this will galvanize the team and they'll get back into a role that is comfortable to them - being the dangerous team with something to prove and plenty of ways to prove it.
