Lol there is no B10 bias, man.
2 SEC teams have gotten in 3 times (since ‘14-15 season). 2 Midwest teams have never gotten in.
As for the Titans...the fact that we spent our 3rd round pick on Malik Willis at QB is so beyond dumb.
Kenny Pickett and Desmond Ridder were the only QBs taken at that point. Could have snagged Bailey Zappe or Sam Howell not sure -either- are NFL starting QBs, but both would have at least been more prepared to play this season than Willis who even at Liberty was inconsistent as hell.
This team is awesome, mane. I think we are better than our worst and worse than our best performance. Which apparently is good for 8-1. And we ain’t done making noise yet.
It took copious amounts of 5 stars in their own stadium, a litany of mental mistakes, and rain to beat the 2022 Vols.
I honestly don’t think that game will be close…I think osu beats the sh**t out of Michigan …that’s just me though
Plus...we have still not had our best possible game imo, and at this point we may not get it, but if we do play it...whoever it is against will be obliterated. This team is awesome, mane. Not sure...Ohio State has looked beatable 21-10 over Notre Dame (first time HC) and 21-7 Northwestern (windy I get, but they are a 1 win team...come on). Penn State also gave them all they wanted until the Lions crumbled and Ohio State defense scored to separate.
Michigan has only given up 20 points once to Maryland and has managed to score 27 or more in every game they've played. The fact Michigan has to face Illinois the game before (the best BIG10 West team) could be their downfall...what would be amazing is if both Ohio State & Michigan lose a game and neither is undefeated when the dust settles. They have to play each other and both will likely have to play Illinois too.
Kentucky has been our best game thus far, in terms of all three phases of the game playing their best ball.Plus...we have still not had our best possible game imo, and at this point we may not get it, but if we do play it...whoever it is against will be obliterated.
The extension is the issue…. When QBs get the big contracts…. It’s extremely difficult to keep a solid team around him.
Hooker will have to get it together and show some veteran presence and composure. Georgia and their crowd shook him up so bad mentally it was awful to watch. Like he’s never played a road game before. Hold the ball for 10 seconds, overthrow receivers multiple times. Draw in on Tillman which has been a issue in the past when he’s in there playing. I mean it was just a bad game. There were plays there to be had. Just didn’t hit them.Kentucky has been our best game thus far, in terms of all three phases of the game playing their best ball.
I still think that we can play better, especially on offense, but we'll have to wait and see.
I watched some of the UGA game again, against my better judgment, and we were so close on a few shots that would have completely changed the momentum of the game during crucial moments. UGA had the perfect storm with the CFP giving us #1 and dropping them to 3, the game at their stadium, our media/fans telling their media/fans that they aren't loud, that Stetson Bennett phone thing (give me a break), and the anonymous SEC coach (give me a break) trashing their team. They were overdosing on bulletin board material at all levels of the program.
They got, and to their credit they made, some crucial breaks early. We took two or three Mike Tyson uppercuts from them. We missed on all of our big swings early. To our credit, we hung in there and played with pride. We had a couple of chances to make them sweat. Maybe Heupel was taking the opportunity to scratch here or there to get film to work on for a possible rematch.
Something that we all noticed in real-time and that I saw again rewatching the game, Hooker wasn't himself. He wasn't getting the ball out early, he wasn't escaping the pocket, he wasn't throwing it away, he was all over the place in terms of decision making.
I think this was a big lesson for him and the team going forward. He was getting heaps of praise after putting everyone on notice in September and transcending into a Heisman-tier QB in October. It's a long, hard fall when you're on top of the world. However, I do think our maturity and toughness will show through and we've got some games to rebuild our momentum.
I don't know if we'll beat UGA if we play them again, but I do know that they won't have the factors in their corner that they had in this game if we meet again. We sailed right into a perfect storm, but we lived to tell about it and learn from it. I don't think we'll make the same mistakes or face the same communication/timing issues if/when we play again either. We got their best game, at their house, on their terms. They didn't get anywhere near our best game. I take solace in that, and I do look forward to a possible rematch.
