It was homecoming, a very large number of starters won't be here next year and they were given some fun. It's why Fant got carries and a chance to throw, it's why Gaston Moore was given a greenlight to launch the last pass into the endzone, it's why Milton was throwing even with a lead. Simpson also left in his 1st team deep into the 4th so it was a great opportunity for some of the backups to face starters.

Hell they even kicked a field goal on their last drive to try and close the gap so it didn't look so lopsided. UT Martin never stopped playing to win, and I don't see any issue with Heupel allowing the backups to play to win either. If he had wanted to run the score up we would have seen Hooker throw for another 250 and 2 more TDs.

8 different players caught passes (more were targeted) & 9 different players had carries with a total of 5 players throwing passes too. Had nothing to do with running up the score, it was about getting as many real snaps to players for homecoming as possible.

Will Levis has to be elite for Kentucky to upset Tennessee


Kentucky believes it has an elite quarterback in Will Levis, whose a consensus projected first round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and is in the midst in a second strong campaign for the Wildcats.

If UK has any chance to upset the undefeated and No. 3 Tennessee Volunteers, who enter Saturday night's showdown in Knoxville undefeated, Levis needs to lead the way.

He completed 31-of-49 passes for 372 yards and three touchdowns but made one critical error. In the third quarter, Levis threw an interception to Tennessee's Alontae Taylor that was returned 56-yards for a touchdown which proved to be the difference as UK fell 45-42 to the Vols at Kroger Field.

If Levis doesn't throw that pick, the performance is a heroic one that lives on in UK lure as outdueling another elite quarterback in Hendon Hooker.

The Vols rank 130th in the country out of 131 FBS teams in pass defense as the team is allowing 329.7 yards per game through the air.

Part of its bad numbers against the pass can be credited to the Vols offense building leads that put the opposition in passing situations; however even in some of its closer games, opposing teams have had success throwing the ball against the Tennessee secondary.

In its 38-33 home win over Florida, Gator quarterback Anthony Richardson whose been stellar on the ground this season but has struggled passing, threw for a season-high 453 yards and tossed two touchdowns.

The game was Richardson's only game this season against an SEC foe in which he threw for more than 185 yards.

In the Vols' 52-49 win over Alabama to snap a 15-year losing streak to the Crimson Tide, defending Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young who had missed the previous two weeks due to injury, returned to complete 67.3 percent of his passes for 455 yards and a pair of scores.

Young is a consensus projected first round draft pick and Richardson also has first round hype. Thus, elite quarterbacks in which Levis is often tied to have had plenty of success against the Vols this season.

Not only do the Cats need Levis to lead UK to a big day on the scoreboard, but they also need the signal caller to lead sustained scoring drives.

A key to the Cats' victory over a high-power air-raid offense in Mississippi State was dominating the time of possession. UK held the ball for over 39 minutes compared to the Bulldogs' 20 and a half minutes with the ball.

If Kentucky can keep the Vols high power offense on the field and ware down the Tennessee defense, the Cats will have a chance.

Obviously, Levis cannot upset the Vols by himself. He'll also need his receivers to step up. Tayvion Robinson is expected to return after missing the Cats' win over Mississippi State, while Barion Brown, Dane Key and the rest of the unit are all ready to go.

Plenty of opposing wideouts, such as Florida's Justin Shorter, who made seven grabs for 155 yards, have had big days against the Vols this season and at least one of Kentucky's must as well.

With Levis now nearly back to full strength health-wise, it's time for the signal caller to cement his UK legacy. If he has a huge game against the Vols, Kentucky will have a chance at a historic upset.

He is from Kentucky, so it is amazing that he can even read. I think we should be proud of him for attempting to write a story.

Speaking of stadium redesign... do we think DW and the Admin at any point will try to put a legit parking garage near Neyland?

I know there isn't exactly plenty of real estate to put it, but my goodness you'd think the city of Knoxville as well as the university would love to have a more centralized parking hub setup.
