As rough as it felt on defense, they had to go for it on 4th down 6 times. A normal team (or Shane Beamer/Drinkwitz last year) punts in that situation and we go on to bury those guys. Napier knew exactly what they needed to do to hang around. If we can just stop one or two of those it would have swung the game wildly in our favor.

The defense also completely took away their ground game outside of some AR scrambles.

We basically dared AR to throw hoping he would throw some to us, but he was excellent. Lots of room to grow for us. So glad to get out of there with a win.

There certainly seems to be a lot less reluctance to declare UT back or at least on the rise. I remember pundits were still skeptical of us at 5-0 in 2016. And for good reason. But I think Butch had a lot to do with that. Everyone outside of this fanbase knew he wasn't the guy.

In 2016, we were a lucky 5-0 team. 4 comeback victories and a lackadaisical effort against a mediocre Ohio team. We weren’t all the at impressive. Just lucky and talented.

Yep. Our scheme depends on our DB's to be really good tacklers. If we can right that ship, and fill the gaps in our zone coverage, we can beat anyone. This offense can win games with a less than optimal performance and an average defensive performance.
