They mentioned on one of the call in shows that tennessees DBs were keeping their eyes in the back field too long allowing receivers to run by us.
The prevailing thought was that AR would have to beat us with his legs and not his arm. This may have been a breakthrough game for him, or a complete fluke. He is another complete freak of an athlete playing QB. Similar to Joe Milton. The other similarity is that if they can put it all together, they would be unstoppable. What's scary is that Milton has even more potential upside. Back on topic....AR played a near flawless game. Last year we would lose this game. Almost every team we've had the past 15 years loses this game. Winners find ways to win.. Even when you don't have your best players available or don't perform at your best in all phases of the game. That's what happened Saturday. That's what happened in Pittsburgh. We haven't seen this team at it's best and we are undefeated. There is some solace to take in that.

A really bright spot for this team (and there are many bright spots) is how we operate in the red zone. On offense, we are batting 1000 as we are 21/21 scoring in the red zone with 15 rushing tds, 3 passing and only 3 field goals. We aren't settling for 3 points and are converting sustained drives. That tells you that our offense is very cohesive and that our OL is playing at a high level overall. I'm certain that number would have been 22/22 had Fant not put the ball on the ground on drive #1 Saturday. Despite our struggles at times between the 20's on pass defense, we have only given up 6 tds and only 3 of those were passing tds. We've only given up 11 scores total out of 16 trips to the red zone by our opponents. That tells me that Banks scheme overall is doing exactly what we need it to do when opponents get into scoring range with this group of players so far. We are more organized and using the natural boundaries of the end zone well as an extra defender. There's a ton on film for our team to realize that they have alot of room for improvement while still being over the moon with what can only be described as a program defining win for this program under Heupel.

He just lacks consistency…. He had a huge game last year against LSU off the bench…. Followed it up with a 40 yard passing game.

Next week's slate does kind of work in our favor for an earlier kickoff:

Auburn at Georgia
Texas A&M at Alabama
SCar at Kentucky
Tennessee at LSU
Ole Miss at Vandy
Arkansas at Miss St
Mizzou at Florida

Once CBS takes A&M at Bama, you've got some games to shuffle in among these:

Red River Shootout, always at noon
Ohio St at Mich St
Wash St at USC - probably a night game for the USC prime time people
Texas Tech at Ok St - feels like a nigh game
#23 FSU at #10 NC State
Utah at UCLA - probably a late(r) game
Kansas State at Iowa State

ESPN isn't going to put Tennessee vs LSU in the afternoon slot to battle A&M vs Bama. They might put FSU vs NC St there.

There are a lot of west coast games that will need the night slots, so I could see us getting slated to noon as the ESPN/SEC alternate to the Red River Shootout. I think that a lot of it depends on how the LSU vs Auburn game goes. If Auburn wins, that's more hype for their game vs UGA, if LSU wins that's more hype for their game vs us.
Isn't it a CBS double header weekend though? Thought I saw people speculating that our game was likely to be the 3:30 kick because A&M and Bama would be a CBS night game.

Nice surprise though.

you're right

The SEC will also broadcast a primetime doubleheader (2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.) on Oct. 8 (which happens to be the day of Texas A&M at Alabama)

Texas A&M at Alabama - obviously game 1

Auburn at Georgia
SCar at Kentucky - woof
Tennessee at LSU
Ole Miss at Vandy - woof
Arkansas at Miss St
Mizzou at Florida - woof
