The DeSantis containment thread -- all things DeSantis go here

I appreciate legal and vetted immigrants to our nation. Hispanics perform a must needed labor force for our nation. They come in and get decent jobs and grow their families. Typically hard ass workers and perform labor, at decent wages I must add..that our lazy entitled asses will not. My Father worked at a Chicken plant once in college.

But this mass rush of anyone and anywho is not correct. The drugs are a big topic as well. It is unsustainable. Even Ellis Island turned back

Oh I see…. You’re one of “those labia lipped” types that doesn’t use the term illegal alien. Let me rephrase it for you…. Asylum seekers or whatever fart blossom progressive term is hip

I’m just going to assume that your mastery of the Dumbass languge is superior to mine and that “illegal” somehow applies to people who haven’t broken any laws, in that dialect. That way, I don’t have to accept that there are people on here that are too stupid to follow a three post conversation.

By definition..what is asylum?

Can't wait for this perp walk. It will rival Bannon's.

You do realize this doesn't appear to be a criminal trial? I'm reading it as a trial to determine if the Gov office had suspension powers in this case and if the attorney should be reinstated. That's a far cry from the comparison you're trying to make here.

It does make for an interesting case going forward and would presumably be something applicable to governors across the country moving forward, R or D.

None of these people have violated any laws.
Actually, Crossing the US border without permission is against the law. It is called improper entry. However it is just a misdemeanor.

Hook them up to a lie detector, and the ones that want a better life, Welcome home.
Edit: If these folks simply walked up to the border and asked for asylum, you are correct an they broke no law.

Then how about this, Matlock...

Is the definition of asylum legally vague and wide open to being very subjective?

That’s not relevant to the discussion about whether they’re here legally.

Asylum statutes and the code of federal regulations lay out a process for resolving the question of whether a person is a refugee. While the process is pending, the claimants are legally allowed to remain in the United Stares. If they default or their claim of refugee status is denied, they are removed or remain here illegally. If they are found to be refugees, they are allowed to legally remain.

The legality of their presence is never ambiguous or vague.

These people have people have pending claims of asylum. They are legally within the United States. And to the extent that this stunt moved them away from the location of their scheduled adjudication, it contributes to the problem of “illegal immigration.”
