This is why that Pitt game was so awesome. People complain about plays left on the field but Vols got the W and by gawd if the Vols aren’t getting a ton of love!

For the past ten years we would have lost that game. Call it ugly but this team found a way to win on the road against a higher ranked team at the time.

Wanted your opinion on nerves healing? Still have some slight pain between shoulder blade and spine. Worried more about elbow pain in my left arm. Had a pinched nerve and did physical therapy, chiropractor, 2 different ortho docs and ended up with degenerative disc that was causing pain between left shoulder blade and spine. Went from pain to numbness through forearm. Doc says nerves take quite some time to regenerate but he expects a full recovery. Had total disc replacement on C-5 C-6 but no fusing. Going through physical therapy twice a week now and am ahead of schedule an doing well. @VolsDoc81TX

Have you had an EMG/NCS of that arm? If not, request one. Will give you better information on any residual nerve injury as well as recovery. It will also tell you if there’s also an entrapment injury out in the nerves in the arm in addition to the neck. (Double crush syndrome)

A nerve can heal up to 24 months time.
It takes up to a year to recover from the major spine surgery thst you had.

The nerve is like a large cable made up of many millions of fibers. The outermost ring of fibers are the pain fibers, first to be affected and first to recover. Sensory (feeling/numbness/tingling) fibers are the next ring in. Affected as the injury worsens and recovers later than the pain fibers. The Innermost group of nerve fibers control muscle tissue. Last to be affected and last to recover usually.

Take vitamin B-6 100mg daily until it’s all better. Super B complex. Vitamin B-12. Get a Calcium/Magnesium/Zinc supplement too.
Take one of each daily. Essential building blocks to nerve repair. Make sure that you don’t take more B-6 than 100mg daily. Megadoses can be toxic to nerves, 100mg is totally safe…

Patience is the toughest part of surgical recovery. How old are you? No tobacco or nicotine (in any form) as even as little nicotine is in 1 cigarette can completely halt the body’s repair ability.

Hope that helps!

How old is he? Should contact the Health and Human Services department to see if government has any funding for residual or Long Covid symptoms. Ask if they have insurance requirements thst his insurance has to abide by for continued care.
If his insurance didn’t terminate his benefits,
He absolutely needs an EMG/NCS to see if he has nerve injury due to entrapment neurpathy or lumbar radiculopathy. Especially if that leg is also weak.
If he can’t straighten his leg out due to a knee flexion contracture, the acute care hospital and rehab hospital may be at fault and responsible for his care to correct it.

Insurance Benefits don’t cover therapy forever anymore. However, if the therapy isn’t documenting correctly, it can get cut too. Or his insurance carrier is a douche canoe.

Where’s he located? Needs to see an Orthopedic surgeon or a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation specialist If he sees a PM&R doc, make sure that they do EMG/NCS testing too.

Good info, will pass along. He’s 38 and located in Oak Ridge. I believe he has had some nerve testing done.

Amazing how healthy we've been so far.

I remember when Butch's teams "led" the nation in most missed starts b2b seasons...and we completely fell apart both years when we had otherwise plenty of talent. Meanwhile, UGA 2017 had ONE missed start all season. Propelled them to a huge season and then recruiting for the future.

If we could merely "out attrition" the league, we could well find ourselves in some unusually optimistic games later this year...
Knock on wood

You should go to the wedding just so you can slap some sense into whoever decided to get married on a Saturday during football season.
I have a cousin, by marriage, that is getting married next Saturday and I have to go. And to beat it all, it is a 5:00 wedding so I'll miss most the game.
What's puzzling is the parents of the person getting married have season tickets. I am not sure what they were thinking allowing this to happen on the same day as Florida. Not happy about this at all.
Go Vols!!

By reading this, you sound like you may have pre-Covid.

That's abusive. Ask their parents for their tickets. Asking for a friend, of course.
