Yeah need to get the rust off of Mitchell so he’s ready to help against Florida.Let the Milton/Nico arguments continue for another 10 months. Regardless, good problem to have.
Awesome news if Bru and Warren is back next year. Should be a really talented TE and WR room.
Kinda anxious to see how Mitchell plays on Saturday. We need depth at the LB spot.

I couldn't put my finger on it until I read your post..that is exactly how I feel about this game. I really can't tell if I should be jacked up on optimism, or bummed out and pessimistic
I am glad we won..but...we have just got to play better in every phase to beat UF and UK.
I am still at 7-8 wins after watching that again...![]()
We have to beat one of Bama or UGA to get in at 10-2.
Doc, I will have what you are having! LETTUCE!!!If we beat one of bama or georgia, we will have a regular season record of 11-1. However, they will both fall to the Vols this year for our regular season record of 12-0. Then, after winning the SECCG against either bama or TAMU, we may even get a rematch against bama or uga in the playoffs to finish the year at 15-0
Here’s where I am torn. Which would be sweeter? Beating bama 2-3 times in the same season? Beating uga 2 times in the same season? Or being instrumental in keeping both bama and uga out of the playoffs? I vote for the third option. Then we get to not only feast on their misery of no playoffs birth, but also get to whoop up on a couple of non-SEC playoff teams. Thus beginning Tennessee’s true reign of terror…I want Tennessee to get the opportunity to destroy as many different college teams as possible so that there is no doubt.
It would be awesome if TAMU beats bama to keep them out of the SECCG, maybe throw in a loss to auburn or LSU as well…
Same story for uga. How much fun would it be for them to lose to Tennessee, Auburn, and one or both of kentucky and the gators.
Here’s to dreams coming true…
But, let’s not look ahead and lose focus. This wee Tennessee plays the Akron Zips. Time to get into game mode. Rev up the Maxims!

Anyone else wondering if/when the Florida realists will show up?
In every year prior, a few of the same folks reliably roll through a week or two before the Florida game to remind us how silly our hope is. And they have been quite more than right considering the scoreboard since 2017...2016.
Iirc it is usually @bignewt with a "don't do this to yourselves", maybe @nicksjuzunk with a good ole "Oh No Baby What Is You Doin?", and a couple others.
Or is everyone on board with unfettered optimism against Florida this year?
Agreed. I fear the kid is going to repeat his performance from the Utah game. We have seen it over and over.I’m one of those. I will believe it when I see it. They aren’t world beaters but neither are we. If Richardson has a great game then we probably lose but I don’t know which version of him we’ll see. If he has an off day then we could win by 3 TDs, but the history of this series favors them.
It’s a great opportunity for us to get the monkey off our back during a big broadcast, but it is also a game that could be a real disappointment if we play poorly again in front of a huge crowd full of recruits. We’re fully capable of winning and this being a turning point in the rebuild.

certainly less than that now, but not by much ... "It will not drop below $50 million until 2027. "
That's an insane amount of unearned confidence. If I was him I'd reinforce any 2nd floor+ windows....
We are in at 11-1 with a close loss to Georgia in Athens.
We'd have ranked wins over Pitt, UF, UK, Bama, and I foresee LSU being undefeated and ranked on Oct. 8th. We'd have Top 10 wins over Bama and UK.
LSU has MSU, New Mex, and Auburn between now and then. MSU is the biggest test for them.
Also don't overlook the gravity of the UK game. They're going to roll into Knoxville for a night game on Oct 29th, with us being Dark Mode or Smokey Greys, and they'll probably be undefeated and Top 10 (Total Fool's Gold for them due to schedule). We would also be in the Top 10 for that matchup. It could be College Gameday.
Between now and then Kentucky plays Youngstown State, Northern Illinois, at Ole Miss, USCj, and MSU. They could easily win all those games, but they could also inexplicably lose one or more of them. Ranked Ole Miss in Oxford will be a challenge. MSU will be a challenge for most of the league and will surely get a big upset or two. But UK has had their number since Leach arrived.
If we roll into Athens undefeated it will be #1 UGA vs Top 5 Vols.
I am by no means expecting this or getting my hopes up. We could also tank and lose to UF, LSU, UK, and Bamabut with Bama looking extremely vulnerable this weekend... it isn't out of the question that we could be in this position.
Random VQ nuggets over the law few weeks:
- Milton will be back on this team. He views himself as the guy for next year.
- AP also views Milton as the starter for next year.
- Jacob Warren expects to be back next year.
- AP thinks Bru will be here for two years (so also back for next year).
- Flowers is likely to continue returning punts.
- Juwan Mitchell will be back for Akron (has hinted that it was a suspension stemming from last year).
- Tayven Jackson did not travel to Pitt for unknown reasons Gaston Moore was the 3rd string QB.
- Dee Willams is likely the punt returner if healthy. He has a shoulder injury.
Other random notes:
- Jimmy Calloway (2 snaps) and Ramel Keyton (8 snaps) were the only other receivers outside the starters to receive snaps last week.
