Their defense played well in both games, top 25 defense for sure. Their offense played horribly in both games, nowhere near a top 25 offense or even top 50. Having them ranked top ten just proves how silly and unreliable preseason rankings are. They played OSU really, really well and led with just minutes to go.
Sports just aren't that simplistic imo. 2019 we lost to freakin Ga St and finished 5-3 in the SEC.
The truth may just be in the middle somewhere.
I like Sean McDonough and Blackledge. Reminds me of when UT was good. I can always hear McDonough saying “he stumbled and fumbled.”These announcers are actually pretty good. I got nervous when they were shown eating pizza, but they never missed showing a play… much more professional than the Looney Toons ESPN announcers from last week.
Can Tennessee pay for the announcer crew? I could actually listen to this group.
I thought they were decent in our game. Saw equal number of plays they let slide on both teams. Got the big calls and replays right I thought.I saw lots of missed calls. I know it comes across as being a crybaby, but I swear refs do not like us. And these were SEC refs. One of the Pitt RBs runs I saw a blatant block in the back.
Personally, I like to have the tickets before I start traveling. I think you'll probably get similarly priced tickets where ever you decide to purchase them.My wife and i are wanting to drive up from Columbia, SC to take our 2 kids to the Akron game this coming weekend. Are we better off buying tickets at the stadium, online or off someone selling out side the stadium?
PS...I've talked my wife into this for our anniversary if I can find a good price on tickets. She's a USCjr fan
Guess that’s true. I would like to see how many times he was targeted…. Ball State targeted him 21 times. You are correct….. it was hadden that got the tip on the int…. I tried watching the highlights to see what you were talking about on my phone…. Hard to see numbers on my phone…. Pitt threw the ball 44 times…. Burrell gave up the one TD…. One other pass in man coverage…. Couple more in that atrocious soft zone that I hate… one holding call…. Seems like a pretty decent game with all the pressure that we were dialing…. Might feel different if slovis didn’t get injured though.
So glad VN fired Banks in the first quarter. Without that dramatic overreaction, Pitt would have converted more 3rd downs.3rd down defense –
Throughout the offseason both Josh Heupel and Tim Banks indicated that 3rd down defense (3rd and long specifically) was something that we were working to improve.
Last year we allowed Pittsburgh to convert on 40% of their 3rd down attempts against us in Neyland.
This year Pittsburgh converted 41.67% of its 3rd downs against West Virginia at home. Also at home, they converted 22.22% against us, putting us at #1 in the conference for 3rd down defense against a power 5 opponent through week 2.
It's early and just the first of nine power 5 opponents but maybe it's a good sign.

Mebbe my standards are lowered due to the horrors we’ve witnessed from that demographic, but I had little quarrel. A bad crew that we’re all too accustomed would’ve found a way to overturn the Bru TD…or called it illegal touching in the first place. There are people in the FF going on about how great the officiating was in the Pitt game and in the bama game… do people that post in that forum even watch the games??
