Ok fantasy/sci-fi peeps.... I know a few of you are big fans of Wheel of Time. I watched 2 episodes last night and was floored by how dang good they looked visually - 4k/UHD is incredible on shows that really use it. I could see the fiber weave on clothing! BUT with that said can someone give me a primer? I have no idea what the show is about other than something called the dragon reborn (may I say a dragonborn) has been born among the ones being evacuated. The woman leading them out and her order seem like the fantasy version of the Bene Gesserit from Dune but like Dune I wouldn't be surprised if one of the male candidates turns out to the the dragon reborn.
What do I need to know about this show/book series? Right now I feel kinda lost but the visuals are just amazing (I want more shows to look this good!).
The series takes the books and throws them in a wood chipper. There are several of us on here that have waited years and years for them to turn the books into a series and they just took a giant deuce on the entire story within the first 5 minutes of the show. I watched about 2 or 3 episodes to see if they might try to redeem themselves and was sorely disappointed. I will not watch anymore, and it is sad because one of my girls wanted to watch it with me. She had only read the first book and was excited for it. She was screaming at the tv the whole couple episodes we tried to stomach down.
@Ulysees E. McGill , if you haven't given your 2 cents....

It was a definitive high fantasy series from decades ago that had gender distinctions as definitive to the plot. They took away major plot points to make or appease certain current cultural preferences per gender norms.The series takes the books and throws them in a wood chipper. To be fair, as someone who hasn't read the books the show seems pretty good. I just don't know what it's about yet. If that continues it will be a problem.
I feel your pain though - a lot of shows and movies screw up books and are unwatchable if you've read the books first.

Imagine fundamentalist Christians turning the GoT books into a streaming series and removing all of the sex and gluttony because it offended their sensibilities...and you still wouldn't be there b/c the sex and gluttony were peripheral to the actual plot needs of the books and series as a whole.
I can see that. However, as someone who has read the books and loves the story and character development of the main characters I can't stomach the abomination that they have put out there. Complete opposite on some of the most important pieces of characters of Rand, Mat, Perrin, Egwyn, and Nynaeve. The story loses so much when you do what they did to those characters in the first episode alone. To make it worse, the character traits that they gave them don't even make them interesting. They just make them seem either sleazy or undesirable.
The one in Strawberry Plains is tempting coming back through from Knoxville sometimes, but I’m not enough of a gambler to press our luck to see if we would make it home before the gut bomb hit.Last time I got Krystal I basically got home (about 35 minute drive) and then proceeded to absolutelymy brains out.

Women are the most powerful in that world except for a handful of men and it makes men out to be unstable with it. Not sure why they needed to add more virtue signaling.I am not saying that I don't know why they did what they did. I am just saying that they dropped a steamer on something that so many of us were so excited to finally get. At least they did it early and often so I didn't invest a lot of time only for them to screw up the ending.
Is it a good series if you've never read the books? Or is it just a steaming pile of Narduzzi?The series takes the books and throws them in a wood chipper. Yep 3rd downs are everything between us being good and great.Here’s an interesting stat
Tennessee had a higher Yards Per Play average vs Bama. 6.3 vs 6.2.
Difference was they kept the ball for 40 minutes and ran 92 plays vs our 55 plays. Played keep away while converting on countless 3rd downs. If we can get better up front on both sides we’ll flip a few of these games
