South Carolina needed 2 blocked punts for TDs to beat Georgia state. Kentucky was in a 13-10 game with Miami of Ohio at half before Miami self imploded. Vandy beat an FCS team by 11 (which is a step up from losing by 20 last year). Feel pretty darn good about those 3, the other two easy wins OOC, and Missouri as well. That's already 7, you really don't think we can't beat 1 team out of LSU, Florida, or Pitt (who we are favored against)?
Beamer and his high school like antics makes me wanna puke. I don't know how his players view him anything other than a straight clown. Beamer was dancing with the players while they were celebrating the scoop and score. What grown man coach starts dancing mid game with his players as soon as they score, makes Tik Tok videos, and has the most punch able face in the SEC? SHANE BEAMER.Noticed post game interview Beamer took a shaded jab at the Vols. Reporter said GA state Was a battle.BEamer yep their tough another SECteam found out not to long ago and suffered
IMO we aren't beating those guys.Of course Florida has the potential to be very good. They came within inches of beating Alabama last year and then completely mailed in the second half of the season. Richardson is a beast at QB and I believe Napier was a good hire. We'll have to play mistake free to beat them.
It's just silly that anyone who watched the first game makes the solid conclusion that we suck. The only conclusion to be made is that we don't know much yet. My eyes tell me that there are two teams that are way ahead of everyone else in depth of talent and it's the same two teams as last year. Let's give Heupel a chance to build something. What is wrong with this fan base? We do exactly what we should have done against a weak team and more than covered the spread, had nearly 600 yards of total offense, held the opponent to 10 points (3 of which were caused by a bad exchange by the 3rd string QB) and played nearly every player that dressed out. Still yet, the LOM is convinced we are trash and have no chance againsr anyone else on our schedule.
I seem to have watched a different game. I saw a starting QB that got a little loose because the defense they were playing was only slightly better than the air they had been practicing against during camp. I saw one glaring weakness at corner, and a some missed communication amongst the 2nd and 3rd string defensive backs. If you wonder why we scored less in the 2nd half, look at the time between snaps. The definitely were not snapping the ball every 3 seconds. The game against Pitt will be the first one that will show anything about this team.
We come out with this vanilla a** playbook play 1 half and what 1/2 drives in the 2nd with the starters and still win 59-10 but yet we are soft and now a 6 win team at most?! Lol MEGANEGAVols Come on the hell with what they did, worry about us and I bet if we go beat Pitt by 14 and y’all are back in here saying 9-3 lol one game at a time
The difference between last year's team and this year's team in all spots sans OL and Passing was obvious. Evan's, Butler's, Taylor's and Jackson's absences are clear in their respective positions. We couldn't even sack a Ball St. QB, they put up 270 yards in passing, and we didn't have a 100 yard rusher. Florida is going to beat us IMO. I thought people thinking 9-10 wins were drinking the way too early to tell Kool aid, but how in the world anyone still has those expectations after watching these games is surprising to me. Hope you are right though. We shall see.Look at the main difference than Utah and Oregon than UGA Florida. It was clear from the start that Utah was going to struggle with the heat and humidity. They had guys throwing up on the field in 1st half. Also Utah lacked the team speed to match Florida speed. Utah is big in the trenches but speed and tempo won that game for Florida.
UGA is going to be good again this year no doubt. But I think Bo Nix made them look better than they really are. And again Oregon lacked team speed to play with UGA.
If you look at last years Vols the scores was 31-24 with 12 minutes left in the 4th quarter. We put up more points than anyone else did on UGA and also had a lead that game. Our offense is better than last years offense and Hooker is starting every game this year where as last year he didn’t get his 1st start till the Florida game in the swamp. I think the defense needs to improve, but the offense for the Vols will be no joke.
If Oregon and Utah would have played any of the top 5-7 teams in the SEC on the road I still think the outcomes is the same. Oregon don’t get beat as bad, but I still think they lose to any of the top 5 teams in the SEC. I think the Vols have a legitimate chance to getting to 9 wins and if the ball bounces right and we get a couple breaks we could slip into 10. But I think the most likely outcome in Heuple 2nd year is 8-9 regular season wins.
That is what I am sayingI think I agree? If you're saying we don't look all that great after seeing Pitt and UF...not to mention the rest of the SEC....and you expect a 7 win season, we're on the same page. I'm holding out hope that we'll look a lot better vs Pitt and maybe reach 8 regular season wins.
DraftKings SportsbookHell, I would bet on Pitt winning next weekend.
Guess how many sacks Florida had.....Utah had over 200 yards passing with only 1 main receiving threat.I think the concern is the defense, especially the DBs and lack of a pass rush. Teams are going to have a lot of success throwing against us. If the offense isn't clicking on a particular day, we will lose.
I still think we win 8 games, but we are going to have to win some shootouts.
Well you are hitting the nail on the head when it comes to lack of experience. There is a lot of it on D and that was clear in the Ball St game. Our secondary was porous and we couldn't get one sack. I doubt that has anything to do with play calling. I hope you are right though, because if I am, we are in trouble. We have a team coming to town who that just put up 283 yards of rushing on Utah. Granted, they are pretty young on D and missing 2 NFL Linebackers.Possibly naive post…
I come on here and read the “we were vanilla because we didn’t want to show too much on offense” and “our defense is still terrible” but I have to imagine Heupel doesn’t give a rats ass about showing too much on either side of the ball. We have new players he has to teach on both sides of the ball. He doesn’t care what Florida sees. Or Pitt. If we execute the gameplan Saturdays we win or we’re in a position to win. It’s that simple. Every week is a learning experience and you have to start somewhere to teach these players and develop them.
Some of you think we come into the season with guys that have already played a season’s worth of games and Heupel is playing chess with our week 5 opponents. I laugh every time.
Tell me I’m wrong.
I think we match up well with Pitt. Their new QB Slovis is nothing like last years. He had minus 20 yards rushing . We should be able to get off the field vs last year.I think our only hope between Florida and LSU is a dub over Pitt.
It's interesting, not sure if it will be updated, but ESPN gives us a 70% chance to beat UF.
Gators put up 285 yards in rushing though.Seriously Utah was a 3 point favorite and they lost by 3. It was a good game but UTAH left points on the field tonight. 14 inside the redzone to be exact. We have a WAY better offense than Utah plus it's in Neyland. Let them try and boat race us. That Gator D doesn't scare me.
Alabama, Georgia , Pitt, Florida, LSU or Kentucky. We were never expecting to beat Georgia. Florida was really fortunate. Utah drove down the field at will against them in the 2nd half. And the gane was in Florida..
So...where are the 5 losses?
