I know it takes time and we have to be patient but I’m just so ready to break through. We flirted with breaking through for a couple of years under Butch (but he was a hack moron, turns out), but otherwise it’s been 15 years of waiting.
Yep, the only time we recruited well enough over a 3 year span to win big Botch Jones was the coach 😓

We just got commitment from a great CB and someone figured out how to ignore that and go negative! Awesome.

I guess asking a legit question is negative. As far as getting a great corner, no one knows how a player will turn out. If Georgia would have taken his commitment that is a good sign. But, without Nico, this class would be mediocre. That's not negative, it's just the way it is. Maybe the staff starts recruiting like Georgia, but if they don't then I think that the future of TN football may come down to Nico. If he is an All-American caliber QB then he would elevate the play of the team as well as attract other recruits. If he doesn't turn out to be that good, it could be more of the same.

FL is now 10th on 247. A&M will likely finish top 10 with the number of top players they are likely to get. TN and Fl will be battling it out for 5th in the SEC. If FL finishes 5th and TN 6th, is that good enough?
For this year, yes but we need to win more this year then next year be a little better in recruiting. Got to stack some talent though.

To be fair the Ga St game was a confirmation that Pruitt was the wrong guy and something needed to be done. The problem was too many were in denial and didn’t want to believe it. Even if we didn’t fire him in the 4th quarter we should have fired him the next day.

Don’t disagree. Was referring to his interaction with some social media intern in the athletic department.

This would put us with a top ten to fifteen class. If you stack top fifteen classes on top of each other and you have good coaches that develop, that will get you to 8-10 wins consistently. That is where we need to get back to. Winning consistently…

Salman Rushdie. The book is called The Satanic Verses. It's a novel that Ayatollah Khomeini deemed blasphemous against Islam. Khomeini put a fatwa (religious ruling) against Rushdie back in the 80s calling for his death. It's a wonder that Rushdie survived this long relatively unscathed. At least 3 people have been murdered over it (the translators for the Japanese and Italian versions and someone else but I can't remember which country/language). If you ever watch Top Chef, Rushdie was married to Padma Lakshmi for a time in the mid 2000s.
Marrying Padma was an interesting way to try to avoid the spotlight.

Georgia was trying to get his commitment.

He didn’t recruit well enough…. He did hit on some big players and got a fantastic qb but he missed on a ton of four star players…. You have to get the stars as well as some solid football players to fill out the depth chart.

I’d say that’s taking a negative slant to it. Not sure why folks would think we should recruit like Georgia.

Agreed. We are recruiting very well for a program that has been irrelevant since at least 2007. Just got to make bowl games, make noise in the SEC, put guys in the NFL, hang around the top 25 for a few years and then let things get rolling.

My view is that if the last 15 years haven’t taught you that no one is rolling in here and recruiting like Bama from Day 1, then you are clearly slow on the uptake.
