Blues Traveler is one of the most underrated bands of the 90s. And then you had all the weird death rumors about the lead singer. I can't remember his name, John Popper or something.
Still remember when they played Sundown in the City. Wife was working for AC Entertainment, the producers of Sundown, and we got vip seats up on a balcony in the middle of Market Square overlooking their show.

It was fantastic! Underrated for sure.

I've never understood the criticism of Elvis. I agree that his fame and the lack of others getting attention is a fair criticism of our culture at the time but it doesn't change how great Elvis was and it's not like American culture was his fault.
I do understand it..at the point Elvis physical and mental state totally went to hell, it hecame the "cool" thing to make him a joke, denigrate him, and impugn his work and the very real, very HUGE effect it had on the world...and it has just went on and gotten worse for the last 45 years.

People do it now and don't even know why they are doing it...it's because it became THE thing to do.

By the way...James Brown and BB King loved Elvis dearly, and they both respected and deferred to him.

When I watch a show with my wife, subtitles are imperative.

Had to turn on subtitles when my mother in law was visiting and we were watching Ted Lasso. We rewatched the first season with her. I didn’t realize that I had missed some really good jokes and sarcasm until I read the subtitles. I thought that I understood all the accents… The more you know. 😎

The Allman Bros at the World’s Fair Park and the Led Zeppelin reunion tour with Jason Bonham on drums in the 90’s were the greatest concerts I’ve ever seen.
i went to both. the only thing about the zepellin deal was that iit was at TBA, and i just remember thinking at the time it would have been better outside. but both were great.....glad i got to go to both of them.

I think any man of the period was either overtly or subconsciously jealous of Elvis's fame and the attention he got from women the world over. Even more bitter they must've been at the sight of their own wives fawning over him.

So when he went down hill it was easy for them to jump on the offensive and tear him down for it.

my and my buddy met him in line to get in to The Lap one night after they had a show in Knoxville. weird. we were like, "why does he have to stand in line?" lol.

One of my favorite concerts ever was Clapton’s Back to the Cradle tour. It was all blues. He took all of these older blues musicians on tour. They would each come out on stage with Clapton and play their favorite original songs. Clapton seemed to be in awe of these older guys and was very respectful. The older blues musicians kept looking at the audience and for each the lights would come up so they could see how large the audience was snd that each and every one of them got a standing ovation at the end of their set. Their eyes would get huge and mouth would drop open. Likely the largest audience any of them had played before.

Sure you didn't 😏 look I like you and I know you go through a lot..I don't want to argue anymore.

Elvis is Mt Rushmore level...no "buts" needed...period.

To be fair McGill, UTProf listed Elvis in her first post replying to Sugar...

Now if we open it up to pop and soul you gotta include Prince. Michael Jackson, James Brown, Little Richard, Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis and Chuck Berry. And probably Robert Johnson. #oscarssowhite (I keed). For real, those are the guys I think of as the pinnacle.

I think she just doesn't have him as her personal best, but still put him up there. We're all different people. I respect the hell out of Elvis and The Beatles as well as Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones, none of them are in my top 5 for any category of music though. I have my own taste and art is subjective.

Yesterday Swain was discussing Roman Harper’s “10-2” comment and said that he doesn’t think that’s realistic. Also said that if a Vol fan says “nah, I think 8 or 9 wins” then the fan police come out and say that they’re a NegaVol. Swain said that person is not being negative, he’s being realistic, and that’s better for the team. Ergo NegaVols are better fans FYI.

Also yesterday Tony B said the defense won’t be improved this year. Call in today to tell him why he’s wrong.

Happy Friday y’all.

I can just tell you right here ITT why I think you're wrong though. It's because you are.

That’s great news…… means the defense is probably going to be really improved.

Omar Rodriguez-Lopez not even being listed tells me what a crying shame that list was. Insanity. People literally spending $200 MINIMUM to see him tour again this year. That good. I was lucky to get nosebleed presales for $85 a piece for The Tabernacle.

And to have John Frusciante #72, a man that has deconstructed and restructured every guitar sound known to mankind...crazy.

Hendrix #1...not going to complain though.

Edit: also noticed Brian Bell (Weezer) was one of the voters. Bearden/Knoxville kid.
From the Francis The Mute days...

I wish I could turn on subtitles with family conversations. My dad was born and raised in Tennessee moved to Scotland for 10 years and he had a hillbilly Scottish accent, I can't even understand his wife or that side of the family during conversations. I just have to shake my head and smile.
