It might e workable for unskilled labor. But we'd have to spend a lot to make sure the system and the immigrants are not abused.

Idk how the system would be abused.

Or the people either. Your local police force would cover their safety just like anyone else’s.

What are inadequate facilities? That arrangement would be set up in the contract.

Hard to imagine these inadequate facilities in regards to people used to 3rd world conditions.

We'd need to confirm each contract, then we'd need to monitor that each contract is abided by and there's no abuse. Say I promise you a place with heat, running water, proper sanitation, and three squares a day, and then provide a cabin with a well and an outhouse, and one or two bad meals a day? Profitable for the employer but no so great for the immigrant.

Gonna be hard to hide that and keep the labor flowing. If the company likes the profit they can make by bringing in labor from another country. Labor that allows them to fulfill their labor needs consistently, why would they sabotage the arrangement over such items you listed? Items that would make an employee less productive?

Just real world issues. People cheat and steal. Such a program would have to be open to almost all employers. Some would try to cheat and some wouldn't. Kind of like how ranchers have treated migrant farmworkers.

I liked the idea of a wall. I did some reading and could not find any effective walls in history which are not supported by guardians. And the distance between guards, barracks, and support staff meant a propely staffed southern border wall was impractical.

How many could have been saved if we had done the job and left almost 20yrs ago? In think some of those killed were born after the wars started

Fact is the funding for the wars could have been cut off at any time yet never was. That's a failure of all govt officials
