Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

If yall haven't seen it yet...there is an 8 part series on Amazon Prime called " Terminal List" and it is very, very well done. I did not know Chris Pratt could even play a serious role...but it is about a Seal Team that gets ambushed on a mission in the 1st episode and all the crooked garbage that led up to it.

Amazing realism and action, No nudity or even much bad language, and an exceptionally well written storyline and script adapted from a book series. 1 of the best shows i have seen on TV in a long time. Each hour long episode is like an entire movie worth of action. I was very impressed.
Watched it last week and loved ity. Can't recommend enough.

When you stop being useful plan your day so you don’t get in the way of the productive.

Any of you guys have a jeep? I've been toying around with buying one as a play toy and something to blow my money on. I want something in the 10-15 year old range so if I completely ruin it I won't feel as bad about it. I want a millennial anti theft 3rd pedal and a 2 door. Any suggestions would be nice.

My daily driver is a 14yo Honda Civic Coupe from 08 with also with an anti theft device routed thru the 3rd pedal. They dont make 2 door coupes anymore, and i found 1 with a little I under 100k miles. I truly look forward to rowing my own gears each time i get in my little pocket rocket. Sadly, modern vehicles (other than high $ performance cars) rarely even have gears in their automatics. They have all gone to the CVT pulley systems...some of which like my pops car "simulate" gear changes even though there are none. Manuals will soon be a thing of the past.

There are a couple folks who post on VN that actually own Jeeps but I cannot think of any who post in the PF regularly. There is certainly a cult following for them, always has been in my lifetime anyway. If i was gonna get 1 then I would definitely be looking for a 2 door model regardless of year. I think the newer 4 door models just look weird...and since Jeep tries to maintain the reputation as "best off -road vehicles" , a longer wheelbase is a detriment on extreme terrain. Not that the vast majority of owners ever come close to pushing their Jeep to the limit of its capabilities. They are however the original vehicle to "trade practical for FUN." A buddy of mine had 1 growing up and it was a blast.

Edit: dont know what engines are offered now, but his had a 4.0L 6cylinder and it was plenty quick. He added an MSD ignition and performance muffler and that cheap 25 or 30hp made it run and sound like a champ

To anyone here who may know about modern engines, i know some here are experts:

Older engines that had plug wires and a distributor could get a good and noticeable bump in power by upgrading the ignition system to an MSD or similar.....todays engines which have neither a central distributor nor plug wires, but instead "coil packs" atop every sparkplug/cylinder are totally different. My questions are these:

1. Is it even a good idea to upgrade an ignition on a modern design engine like the 1.8L VTEC engine in my Civic coupe?

2. Would boosting the spark significantly like in older engines not fry the coilpacks on each cylinder?

3. I have a DCsports short intake with a cone filter etc. It allows WAY more airflow at all RPM, should i get a bigger fuel pump? Maybe a tune (chip/flash)?

Btw...i highly recommend to anyone here getting a peformance intake on their vehicle. Mine sounds and runs much better, and may even get better gas mileage. Shrubhuggers made all those stupid regulations regarding emissions ...which took V8s from the 60s making 300+ hp and had them making 170 to 200hp with the same displacement in the 70s. Fun fact: a 1994 mustang GT with a 5.0L (302ci) made 215hp. That was a 10hp bump from the year before. Absolutely ridiculous. They make twice that hp now. These same regulations hurt new vehicles greatly other than perhaps the real performance vehicles which now make record HP each year...in the last scream before dying.....giving way to the ________ and their forced shift to electrics.

You talking about some cold air intake or a K&N filter? I am no expert, but am skeptical after running one on my old 1.8T.
Maybe with tuned exhaust. What is sucked must be farted.
