God I miss views like this from The Fort.

Waking up on a gameday Saturday, looking outside and everything is orange.

It was something I'll always cherish. Lived on 12th and white (like a block from the bridge to neyland) and my neighbor and I would wake up in a daze from the night before, chug Gatorade and smoke cigs/ other stuff you smoke in college while blasting rocky top until the Gatorade turned into beer, then we'd sell Parking spots in the empty lot next to us getting absolutely tanked with our customers then fire up the grill and shotgun beers with whoever walked by. Hopefully I'll be on the receiving end of those free beers/ burgers when I go to the Florida game this year

On a serious note Billy sat down and spoke with us for a bit, sharing stories and what not. He's a nice dude, the menu looked solid and we all appreciated his hospitality. @InVOLuntary @OGbabyaviVol and @Sugaray13 left before we did because they needed to catch the Murder She Wrote marathon.

The data still stands. The teams that have won national titles since 1998 have have higher rated classes than others. You will never see a team loaded with 3 stars win a natty. Not gonna happen.....never have since the BCS era.
Which came first, the coach or the highly ranked players? Seems like the best coaches are able to recruit the best players. Or, which came first, the coaches who can cheat and pay players, and win championships. However, there are coaches who buy players and can not win games. I think the best coaches win more games because they have a better scheme and buy the best players.

I am a retired Army Reserve Veteran. My unit was Civil Affairs but my basic branch was Infantry. When I was in ROTC at UT, we had some guys who branched Field Artillery that I kept up with over the years, so I learned a little bit about it. I would not trade my time in the service for anything.
All I got out of that is you served during the Civil War.

It’s funny to see them stumble all over themselves over this. They can’t handle these facts.

My wife was watching a golden girls episode Mon. night that centered on Rose(Betty) actually sleeping with a man who the girls discover dead in her bed the next morning. I kinda got interested myself. Even I have to say Betty gave me a few chuckles.

I just now realized Arkansas was trying to throw the ball in that situation. In my mind for whatever reason (maybe I'm confusing it with a Kansas St play) they were kneeling and fumbled the snap. But the right side of the offensive line is pass setting. Even the RB reacts like he wasn't expecting the ball.

Oh, absolutely it was a pass play. The possibility does exist, I guess, that it was going to be a designed QB draw or bootleg. It just goes to show you how much that Tennessee team really was a team of destiny. That play never, ever happens. You just don't see it. From the actual play call, to the awkward footwork, to the gift of Stoerner just actually laying the ball on the ground like it was a gift...that sequence of events is just really unheard of. I'll never forget the time and place I was in that moment and the newfound excitement born from misery as I thought our perfect season was done for.

I thought in that moment, this team will win the NC. I just enjoyed the rest of the game and season from then on, knowing that UT was simply destined.

I think that's reading too much into it. Recruiting services have scouts that evaluate players the exact same way that coaching staffs do.

Nobody is saying that GLOBAL STATISTICS concerning star values is not out there, just that they are not relevant to individual conferences or schools. Why does anybody want to employ statistics INCLUDING the entire 3 star pool when they have no committable offers, validated by visits to any upper level P5 schools? That is not the REAL pool we are working within. I bet all 5 stars are in that defined pool and most if not all 4 stars are too, but a very low percentage of the vast 3 star pool is. Bet the defined 3 star data is much closer to the 4 star data than whole world view and could actually have some relevance. Using global data to further an Eeyore agenda is just tiresome. I use the visits as a limiter since that is an available data point that is much more verifiable and reliable than the proverbial OFFER.....

I get what you are saying here, and that is certainly one way of tracking the better 3 stars....and seemingly a good way to do so may I add. Some guys do indeed get missed, but normally most of those 3 stars that you speak of have less of a chance of being an immediate contributor vs a high 4 star or 5 star player, which effects quality depth if you have too many of those.
