Oh wow, things are happening! How exciting!
I will say that my Fitbit Charge 5 has changed my world in terms of fitness. You can set VERY gentle goals for movement. You can remove goals that might be irrelevant (calories in, weight tracking.)
I especially love what I call “the puttering nag” - it tracks your steps each hour up to 14 hours, including just little steps around the house, and alerts you at 10 minutes till the next hour if you haven’t hit 250 steps. (For perspective, when the weather is sucky, I can get 250 in just a couple of minutes walking around inside, as long as I keep swinging my wrist.)
You can reset the total steps goal down to something very achievable, even 1,000 initially. I’ve gone from 5,000 to 5,500 to 6,000, and I accidentally hit 10,000 on Monday, but had to skip the long walks until today after the spinal compression flared up.
It monitors and displays your heart rate and breathing rate, and it determines your current cardiac fitness level and gently challenges you to push it. My cardiac reserve has improved enough in three weeks that it has reset my goals a bit higher, dammit.
The little celebrations when you hit various goals through the day aren’t too eye-roll-y, and the nudges aren’t obnoxious.
If she were interested, and I could figure how to get mine to you guys, I would gladly loan her mine to see if she likes it. I got mine from Darth Bezos (Amazon) for $150.
Anyway, great news I hope, even if a bit yikesy!
