I’ve been around long enough to see both sides. There are things I agree with in support of ā€œThe Tourā€ and ther are things I agree with that support another league. I really hate the thought thst I’ll never get to see A-game Rory vs A-game DJ. I want a compromise.
Are you having a conversation with yourself?

I want to see a tour event where each player puts up $1 million of their OWN money……and play for it all! He!!……a skins game with their own cash.

THAT would be worth the price of admission.

The ole Travino quote..

Pressure is when you play for five dollars a hole with only two in your pocket.

It's f'n stupid ass garbage...period.

Love ya McGill and always enjoy reading your takes, but I gotta disagree a bit.

LIV is not paying stupid sums of $ so these guys will appear and not compete. They are paying $$$ in order to bust up the PGA monopoly. The PGA is fine for it's members to survive or fail on their own merits individually, but collectively it's not willing to do the same. By deciding they are not willing to compete in a "free and open marketplace" they have exacerbated the situation.

I just don't see any compelling reason to support either side based on the merits of their spin. But I am only a casual golfer & fan so I know others who are more invested will feel differently.

Watch 100 MLB plays to 1B and tell me how the Maryland runner was doing anything different.
Was contact made at first base on those plays? The rule states that the runner has to be inside the running lane if contact is made with a fielder or with the ball…. Officials can judge that the runner had to come back to the bag causing contact but that runner was well inside the line. The umpire can even judge that runner being outside the running lane caused the errant throw since the runner was obviously outside the running lane…. That extra white line beside first base designates the running lane and it was obvious he was well outside of it…. If you don’t like the rule then change the rule.

How does pulling big names from weekly tour stops tbat pump.millions into local charities and businesses hurt the PGA and European Tours...really? The competition is on the weekend between the best players, not this stupid-ass gimmicky, šŸ¦¬šŸ’©, money grubbing, pathetic f'n garbage.

It's freaking stupid man...come the f on...you know why.
Neither you nor I know the money that will go towards charities from LIV events at this point. If it’s the same or greater, the redistribution of charity money (some of which goes to organizations that don’t score high on the charity scorecard) is not a bad thing. I don’t know yet what the competition on the weekend looks like, but I want to find out. Good for you for already figuring out that ā€œit’s f’n stupidā€ without watching a single shot.

I hate it...it is nothing but pure f'n stupid ass greed. These guys are all multimillionaires, even the ones that never win šŸ’©.

I’ve read the rule but I googled and found this. Didn’t even have to watch more than a minute of it. I understand the ball was hit in the base line. Maybe I’m missing something, but his path to first wasn’t any different than these other runners.

So you really want to see the long time Tour events die because a stupid ass pos Saudi billionaire is able and willing to pay them stupid money for nothing? The PGA tour stops can't afford to just throw oil money around like confetti like these ****tards. It is therefore not REAL competition between tours and never will be. The Saudis haven't earned or created anything...it is f'n pathetic and I hate it.

I don’t want that. I personally believe that both can exist at the same time. There are enough good players for both tours to thrive. If you think ā€œThe PGA Tourā€ can’t afford to attract good players, I don’t know what else to tell you. The tour is threatened by the fact that LIV model hurts their bottom line because they will need to pay the players a bigger piece of the pie.
