Jordan Beck had 2 fingers up and was saying "That's two" because it was his second RBI in clutch situations. It looked like just his middle finger because of the angle.

The GT pitcher last night was what I've heard called "effectively wild". If we played that guy 10 games, he would get shellacked 8 of them.

People don't understand or in sone cases don't really think about how ERA works, for example of a guy has a 5.00 ERA that doesn't mean he never has a good stretch of pitching...if you give up 10 runs over two bad innings, but throw 16 scorless innings around them...you still have a 5.00 ERA.

Even without CTV - I‘d rather watch live baseball, or softball, or lacross, or rowing, or equestrian, etc. than replays of spring games over and over and over and over and over….
They are going to show what drives dollars…. Not sure why anyone would rather watch replayed spring games over baseball or several other options.

Oh snap...

Next year is Disney trip...anyone got any recommendations on rides worth the wait or rides to avoid?

We'll be there 4 full days and likely hitting one park per day. The kiddo will be 9 so he should be able to ride most everything.
I would recommend not going. It's the worst vacation I have ever been on.

His metrics were that of a dominate pitcher besides walks…. He was able to limit them which is why he was so effective.

Have him/her do the Star Wars light saber battle…. The parks are ok…my son was 9 and was able to ride everything in the two parks we were in…. Didn’t have any big roller coasters…we went to magic kingdom and the one with Star Wars…It’s ran better than most…. My kids would much rather be at the beach though.

Not even going to lie…watching the highlights from the game Cortland Lawson has pi$$ed me off all over again 😂😂 glad we got the Win but hope he makes strides to improve his craft.errors like that will cost you Omaha, these last couple have weeks have been rough for him.
He has had a terrific year. Last night was very rough, but I have have no doubt he will bounce back just fine.

My guess is it is more on the expense side: commentators, cameras, etc. I know all are at least shown on ESPN+, but I don't think they ever put "local tv crews" on the national channels. I doubt they get many eyes on certain SEC teams in the middle of a Sunday afternoon. Just a guess.

Yeah, we're staying in the animal kingdom so he'll probably enjoy that park the most. Hollywood Studios (where SW is) is the park I think I'll enjoy the most. Right now he's big into dinosaurs and animals...so we're working around those interest. But a year from now his interest could change.

It's a trip my mom wants to take with all the grandkids (and their parents). We're also spending a few days at Universal. I think she's wanting to have more experiences now that dad's gone, maybe feels like they missed out cause they never just did the things they wanted to when they could.

Make reservations to Applebee's asap. They fill up fast.

Jason is correct. The NCAA has zero authority to tell a business how much it can pay an athlete for NIL - a private transaction between two parties. The NCAA does however have control over the S-As who want to play intercollegiate athletics at NCAA member institutions. The NCAA can still completely and totally disallow NIL for student-athletes wishing to compete for member institutions. That is still not against the law - which was my original point in that Alston does not say what a lot of people think it says. The NCAA subsequently threw its hands up in regards to allowing NIL, so it is currently a free-for-all, but it still has the legitimate legal authority to implement rules as it sees fit until a SCOTUS ruling dictates that they cannot. That has not happened yet.

What could the NCAA do to cap NIL for student athletes? They could use a two-prong mandatory reporting requirement (failure to report = suspension) combined with a cap on S-A earnings at say 1mil/year (a player who accepts more than 1mil in NIL funds would be ineligible to compete). Another option would be for the NCAA to restrict the timing on NIL for S-As. Perhaps a rule that states "Player may not receive anything of value in exchange for NIL rights until completion of first semester and while in good academic standing." The possibilities are endless. But for each rule the NCAA passes (without further Congressional action), they would be subject to antitrust litigation.

So what is antitrust law and how does it work in re: the NCAA?
Antitrust law exists to make sure that businesses stay fairly competitive with each other and do not harm consumers by predatory practices. But the NCAA (among other certain industries) is unique. One of the holdings in NCAA v Board of Regents is that the NCAA is unique when dealing with antitrust issues. The NCAA product market is competition, and for that product to exist at all, the court has to allow certain practices that would never be allowed in other industries (mainly as it relates to agreement between competitors). In antitrust parlance, that means the difference between "per se" and "rule of reason" analysis. In rule of reason analysis, the court looks at both the pro-competitive and anti-competitive justifications for any given rule to see what the effect is on the market. The court asks for legitimate business factors for why the rule exists and ultimately will ask one simple question: Is this the least restrictive way to achieve a legitimate business goal.

As I said previously, the NCAA has successfully defended certain rules under 1) health and safety considerations, and 2) amateurism. In the example above, the NCAA may posit that the legitimate business interest for having a time restriction on NIL is so that schools (or collectives acting on behalf of schools) don't just buy players while still allowing those S-As to benefit from their NIL. Schools would still stay fairly competitive, players would still ultimately benefit and it just may well be the least restrictive way to accomplish that goal for the NCAA. A court could legitimately view a time restriction as pro-competitive because schools/proxies can't buy players, and S-As still have their NIL rights. We just don't know yet. Kavanaugh hinted that he would rule against any rule, but the other 8 Justices have remained silent, save for a narrow ruling in Alston (when they could've gone broader) which disallowed a cap on educational benefits above the cost-of attendance.
That is not accurate at all….. the whole point was that schools were making millions off of student athletes while not allowing student athletes to make money off of their own likeness…. The courts ruled in the favor of the players….. the only thing the ncaa can do is try to go after schools claiming that they are buying players…They will not be able to stop the NIL in its entirety though.

If you can arrive at the park when it opens go directly to the most popular rides.

Mom's already working with one actually, was the first advice some of her friends that go on a regular basis gave her.

I would still try to watch star wars(animated versions to peak some interest) go to Hollywood studios early in the morning to sign him up….They will put him in a costume…. Do real quick training and he will go on stage and fight Darth Vader or some of the other characters…. It was the coolest thing my sons did when we went bc it was interactive.
