I can’t speak for anyone but myself because it’s a choice you have to make but , if you break into my home while I’m there … I will shoot you . It’s that simple for me and I don’t care what stat you put that statement into .

I would agree gun violence is a big issue. I dont think many/any on here would argue otherwise.

The point is how big a problem is it. The media blasts it so it feels like a bigger problem than it is. Overall the number of gun violence is up from the 60s, but the rate is down. Our population has almost doubled so that makes since. The rate of gun violence descending says to me we already have an effective strategy in place. People just get caught by the media story pulling on their feels and forget the larger picture. Which is why none of the gun grabbers will discuss actual stastics.

More than half of those gun deaths are also from suicide.

My stake with health care is until we do better at prevention costs are going to go up. We are unhealthy, and old. So yes our costs are up as an average. Get people moving and with less demand on HC you will see costs adjust down so that the people who need help, thru no fault of their own, can get it. Otherwise we are rearranging deck chairs.

Very very few people with a rifle calls it an assault rifle. It's mostly a term outsiders has wrongly attached to rifles to make them seem worse than they are so they can make the above emotional argument.

And also even if you want to accept the label of assault rifle, it's an extremely lazy argument to equate all guns to assault rifles. This person never heard of a pistol, probably the most common gun of choice for personal defense? Where are the assault pistol Mr. Jefferies? Assault shot guns? Assault bolt action rifles? Assault revolvers, assault deringers?

The entire argument against guns is "I dont like guns", which is fine as Mr. Jefferies points out. But they do not make you any less safe than you were before. As has been pointed out the rate of gun violence is going down faster than our population grows. It's just now the media blows up every story, that fits their narrative. If you need an example of the media only playing to the narrative look at the Tulsa hospital shooting.

The tree of Liberty must be continually be replenished by the blood of patriots and tyrants alike. Maybe we should have Children's Memorial Day where we honor their sacrifices so that we can be reminded of our rights.
