Gun control debate (merged)

Wouldn't making a simple bomb be the easiest and do the most damage?
For the average person, which one would be easiest? Read about, practice at, experiment with, and then successfully execute making a home made bomb… or buy a gun and some ammo and start shooting people?

Do we know how this wretch got the gun? It does seem something needs to be looked at when a sinister mind can ruin the lives of so many. 25 years ago this creep would've just killed himself if he was that depressed. This new wave is to kill as many others as you can.
He wasn't depressed. He was brainwashed.

Bought legally from a dealer. Even though just last year he underwent a mental health evaluation by the police because he threatened to shoot up his high school.

That right there is a reason something needs to change. Apparently the sociopath has been staking out this place for months too?

Sounds like the system failed and yet you people want to trust the system to do more. Odd.
The system needs to be more restrictive on who can buy a gun. If you had a mental evaluation because you threatened to shoot up a school you should not legally be able to purchase a firearm a year later.

I've always said the gun laws need improving, not that they are already working so well that security guards are no longer needed.

I’ve never seen a security guard at a grocery store much less an armed one . That should tell you that it’s not a gun problem , it’s a community/ people problem.

Oh look more restrictions because we don’t have laws already in place .

He illegally modified it, same thing
So the law didn't work?

What if that mental eval was caused by an erroneous or malicious report? Blanket rules like that will absolutely be abused

That may be because there is not a better alternative. Sounds to me like all we can do is continue to improve the system to where we have fewer failures moving forward.

Seriously.
How about…..if you threaten to shoot up a school there is some mandatory time in therapy. (Outpatient. No need to incarcerate without due process) It can be determined pretty quickly if the threat is real.

Not really. It's sort of definitional don't you think.
The idiocy is in believing that since criminals break the law, laws are meaningless and ineffective.

The idiocy is believe that piling on more restrictions when the ones that are already there arent being followed will improve the system .

I think it has to be both at some point. Depression made it easier to turn into a brainwashed psychopath?
True. And the brainwashing he consumed probably made him more depressed.
I'm sure there is a correlation between the degree to which a person allows themselves to be brainwashed and depression.
