I wouldn’t necessarily say the bats went cold. We have 8 hits in 7 innings. Lipcius hit a ground rule double in the 2nd with a guy on 1st- a bit unlucky because the guy on 1st would have scored. Lipcius also hit what appeared he a HR that was called foul. Then, you have an ump calling a strike at the shin. We have a crucial error. Can’t do that in close games.

All people want to do is be argumentative. The game of baseball has changed completely in the last 5-10 years. It’s always been frowned upon to swing for the fence if it isn’t a hitter’s count. That’s no longer the case. Analytics agree that you’re more likely to score if you just go for it. Adjust your launch angle and swing out of your shoes. So many teams take that approach, but especially our Vols. Hence, the offensive explosion. It absolutely is a product of a analytics.
