I agree, but he may want to prove to himself he can make it all the way through. Personally, I think making the cut, given what happened to him, is a big deal.
He won’t quit. Mark that down. That’s not in his make-up. The conditions today probably affected him 10x more than anyone else. Kudos to him for finishing.

I put little stock in scrimmages. It's glorified practice. I don't think today accurately reflects how this team will play during the season. I have confidence we'll be just fine.
Yeah our started qb only took a couple of series. It’s pretty much for everyone else get up to game speed and see where individuals are at.

So...Scottie is playing great, but I don't think 5 strokes is enough of a cushion with Cam Smith lurking and the wind gusting. That kid can go really low on this course...and Scottie is leaving several strokes out there.

This didn’t age well. Was a frustratingly awesome game.
The cold really affected Burns’ pitching. Threw off the Vols mojo for a while. They then treated it like a midweek game with each pitcher getting 1-2 innings and pulled it out. 🤠
McGill was just going Opposite Day on Tiger and the Basevols yesterday...nailed it 😁

Whoopsie...Scottie crapping his britches at 12. I think the pressure is about to ratchet way up. If Scottie bogeys or doubles 12 and Smith birdies 15...😳

I’ve repeatedly made the claim that our defense is well coached and that a major issue we face on that side of the ball is not having enough talent and depth to compete with elite teams, elite being defined as an AP top 25 team. Against everyone else we perform as a top 20 defense. jmo.

Here is another nugget to try to make my point. The top half of the defenses in the conference and in the nation average around 15 defensive plays per quarter. They play 4 quarters of football so they’re around 60 +/- defensive plays per game. Additionally they’re rotating guys to control the number of snaps on their guys. Of course everyone is emphasizing the need to “strain” on every play. jmo.

Our defense with our offense is required to play on average 5 quarters of football every game. That has always been the case with Heupel’s offense. It’s pretty much the same with Kiffin’s offense at Ole Miss as well. jmo.

Time of possession is thought by some to be increasingly irrelevant and that may be so but the number of plays a player has to play is not irrelevant. Everybody wears out at some point. I don’t think there is any conditioning program in the world that is going to have you at your best in the 5th quarter in most SEC football games. jmo.

I, along with most other analysts, am expecting our defense to improve this year, owing mostly to being more familiar with the system, but also we could marginally have better depth. There won’t be a ton of upgrade in talent but experience will help a lot. jmo.

One thing that I doubt will change all that much is the requirement for Tim Bank’s guys to play 5 quarters of football every game. It’s just a feature of our current approach to the game. jmo.

Our philosophy for winning is to score more points than our opponents. The more points we can score, the more we can help our defense. I don’t want to sound ungrateful or greedy, what with having one of the highest scoring offenses in the nation, but WE.NEED.TO.SCORE.MORE.POINTS. jmo.

Thanks for the info as usual. I like your comment about top vs number of plays.

However, I still question the opinion by many that our offense necessarily means more plays by the defense. Number of possessions faced, absolutely. But it seems to me that, for the most part, the defense determines how many plays it’s on the field. Get 3-and-outs and you won’t be on the field for many plays.

I can see that even in the best scenario the number of defensive plays will go up a little, but it seems to me your defensive play can control whether or not the increase is as much as an additional quarter.

What am I missing here?

Yup, you’re correct. Long story short you would have made a $1600 if you bet that $100 before the tournament.

Now, if you have my luck, Scottie would have **** the bed right after you bet on him 😂
Well...the lead is down to three and Scottie suddenly forgot how to play the last two holes after being on cruise control all day...so...
