They scored 55 against Villanova…. Sometime you can’t control off shooting nights but you can always control how you play defense.

The expectations for them in the preseason were higher than folks had for us because they are/were loaded talent wise and have a really good coach. UNC is showing everyone what a talented team that underperformed in the regular can do in March under the right circumstances.

I agree with all that.

If anything the fact that we only lost because we had one of those weird basketball things happen when there is a lid on the rim says a lot about how good and versatile the team really was.

I mean...they didn't dominate and blow us out despite the fact we couldn't buy a bucket

Oh...and 2-18. We had vastly improved from the first two months of the season, and had put the offensive struggles in the rearview.

We just had an off night, and they executed their screen game very well..but it was not that great, or it would have been a blowout with our bad shooting night.

I will never criticize this teams effort on defense. Sometimes the other team is just really good at something, or they just get in the zone execution wise for one game. From what I had seen of Meatchicken they were pretty good at that.

Michigan targeted and shut down Vescovi. That really disrupted our offense. Credit Howard (or one of his assistants) for coming up with a good gameplan. We didn't have a counter.

We showed good effort….. Barnes didn’t adjust to what they were doing…They kept setting the same screen up too and we couldn’t decide how to defend it…. They burnt us over and over again….. then when they would post the big guy up down low….. we couldn’t decide to double or where from…. It caused our rotations to be slow leaving guys open.
As for the three point shooting…. Michigan did a really good job pushing us off the three point line…… even when we got open looks…. We felt pressure even if it wasn’t there causing us to miss our shots.

And yet, if all the other guys don't go ice cold...we win. It was a good gamble, but it only worked because JJJ and the other guys had a bad night. If they don't go ice cold, then we are sitting here calling it a stupid game plan.


JJJ in particular had been shooting great for weeks. He just had a bad night.
