That's really an entirely different issue but what's hurt men's non-revenue sports is the fact that football reserved scholarships when the NCAA first dealt with title 9. Basketball did too but since both men and women play basketball that offsets. The men shouldn't be able to steal from the women's allotment simply because they chose to spend most of their scholarships on one sport. The solution is to expand the allotment for both sides. The men can then use theirs to fund baseball, wrestling and hockey and the women can spend theirs.
You’re exactly right, but what would the alternative have been? I think that was completely preposterous and unrealistic.

That’s the reason my school has Womens Rifle and Vandy has Womens bowling. It’s a waste, really.

Edit: I was nominated by my coach to the Title IX board. I had a blast 💥

There's simply not the same level of training and investment at the lower levels. You've got a handful of programs for girls in any sport where what could be considered elite training and coaching happens and most of that is in Olympic sports because those sports have been incentivized. Sports like basketball are not incentivized for girls. Sports like tennis, track, gymnastics and swimming are.

As for the rest... I don't understand your point. Why the hell are you comparing male and female athletes?
My daughter plays college basketball….. she trained weekly with Alexis Hornbuckle and Alberto Augusta…. She played travel ball since she was 8 including the big Louisville tournaments where the best in the country are brought…. They even have the EYBL league for women like they do for men… My daughter has also been strength training since she was in the 7th grade…. What resource did she miss out on? I brought up athleticism is bc the reason people don’t like the sport as much is bc they are so much less athletic than the males that play the game…. It’s like a completely different game.

I like club sports though. They are quintessentially college. Bring me fencing, lacrosse, and our very own cornhole champions!

Your daughter is an exception though. That's the problem. Not many girls have those opportunities. She's lucky to have a parent like you who helped make them happen.

I disagree with your assessment. I’m 46 and came from a high school that was VERY successful in mens and womens athletics. If a male or female had the “want to” in a particular sport, they played. Failure or success was there for the taking.
