I wasn’t a fan of bringing YAC back. Not my narrative. I thought Pope pretty early. Agree there really wasn’t a home run named as a possibility.

I thought YAC did a great job with Palmer, Jennings, and Calloway is one year as WR coach here. I also thought he recruited Memphis better than we had in a long time. If not YAC, I was good with Pope because the rest of the hot board was sort of meh.

With the free transfer you really can't settle on what ya got anymore. I'm sure Heupel and Joey are telling QBs being recruited that as well. Jackson will have a year ahead of Nico and your hope is he's good enough that you're not scrambling to get Nico ready to start as a true freshmen. Flip side is if Nico is THAT good to be seriously pushing to start as a true freshmen then so be it.

You can't keep everyone in that QB room happy, but some guys may be willing to wait it out. I am a bit surprised Milton came back when Hooker announced he was returning.
Tbf Milton already transfered once and used up his freebie. He'd have to cross his fingers if he tried to transfer again...

Red flag for me was their performance improved under Tee and he didn’t exactly land any studs at the WR position. Another would be hasn’t coached the position since 2018…spanning two stops.

Can’t bring a guy like Nico in and have him sit a year.

Can you even name a True Freshmen that started in the SEC at QB in the last decade?

Ty Simpson isn't starting at Bama this year, Cade Klubnik isn't going to go start at Clemson, Quinn Ewers still hasn't played a snap, Brock Vandagriff hasn't played a snap, CJ Stroud and Bryce Young both sat a year, as did DJ behind Trevor.

Call me crazy...but I think overall the secondary might be better next year.

We lose Theo & Alontae.

But Flowers, Burrell, McDonald, Hadden, Turnage, Rucker, Charles, Slaughter, Edwards, McCollough all return and get another full off season to improve.

You also added Desmond Williams who was able to EE, and you'll have Harrison & Thomas arriving on campus this summer.

We even added Wesley Walker a Nashville native via transfer portal who'll be on campus after this semester I believe.

One name I see missing is Tyus Fields, never really seemed to get on the field while here though. Not in the portal but also not on our updated roster...so no sure what's going on there.
I’m gonna call you crazy here minus having a pass rush will make them look better. But losing Theo and Alontae is gonna hurt. Hadden/Turnage have shown flashes but there’s a reason they couldn’t consistently get on the field with the other CB spot wide open. Burrell has been bad. Really hope he can continue to grow.

I do think improving our pass rush will help a ton in general though

I also just realized LSU landed Jayden Daniels in the portal...

Brian Kelly ain't gonna have such a bad first season after all, that's a great get for them. (they have 14 transfers already :O...he's been a busy man)

Fair enough. I’d just like to see him start year 1 🤷🏻‍♂️

The offense - especially passing game - was so bad while Pruitt was here, it’s hard to judge that part of his job fairly. There’s no doubt we pulled more quality players out of Memphis while he was here than we had in a long time though.

I'd imagine Milton starts in 2023 for his final season, then Nico takes over as a redshirt freshman in 2024. Tayven Jackson is going to have to work is @$$ off the next two years and not give JH a choice.

That's my dream scenario, but I honestly don't know if we can keep Nico off the field. The only people I've seen make the throws he does, all play on Sundays right now. It's crazy.

He might start out that way, but he better ball out or Nico is taking over early in 2023.

No one has really mentioned it, because he's so talented, but he's gonna have to put on at least 20lbs of muscle before he goes in. Shouldn't be a problem, he has plenty of time and the best resources in the world.
