Bottom line, as fans, did you love this team this year? Did they entertain you? Bring you some happiness? Were you proud as Vol fans to be represented by these young men? I was. Losing sucks, but it happens. No amount of bitching will undo yesterday. There's more than one reason we lost, so trying to pinpoint the blame on one person, even the coach, is stupid. If you're going to continue to bitch about Coach Barnes, offer a solution or just stfu about it.

This loss hurts, but this is not on Rick Barnes. Plenty of losses in March, like Oregon State, can be blamed on him. This year he did his best coaching job. We were 11% from 3 yesterday after shooting 37% for nearly 2 months. We got the raw end of the deal at the worst time. You can’t blame Rick for our guys missing shots they were making for weeks.

It still hurts like hell and it’s going to hurt like hell for a long time. But this isn’t on Rick.

One thing I wish we'd done differently; I wish we would have gone at their big guy more to try and get him in foul trouble. He seemed to be the key to their team. But I'm not convinced the refs would have called it because I still believe they allowed Michigan to play more physical than they did us.

No one thing cost us this game.

Bottom line, it's called March Madness for a reason. Only 1 out of 64 will go home happy. I hate we lost and am dissappointed. This team brought me lots of joy this season, but just didn't play well down the stretch yesterday. Ready to root for the baseball team and looking forward to spring practice. All you that continue to post the same crap over and over and over can move to the bb forum or ff forum for all I care.

I think this is the proper approach. Enjoy the journey and don’t worry so much about the final destination.

JMO, but in the tournament, neither team should receive their own conferences' refs. My perception that Michigan was allowed to get away with more physical play only grows knowing two of the refs were Big 10 guys.

I have read many of the post and understand the frustration but lets take a breath and step back. We have some very talented young men on this team and granted I do not keep up with BB recruiting but I think there are several high rated players that are very interested in our program for a reason.....the coach. Barnes doesn't shoot the three drive the basket or defend the perimeter but he does seem to be able to make the team want to play hard.

I know they don't win every game but who does. Barnes is a good coach and is good for UT so why is it we can never seem to see that, we always think if we lose in the tournament we need to fire the coach. We obviously have learned nothing from our firing and hiring coaches. We were picked to win it all by some and you don't get to that point on a fluke.

I dont know that I feel Michigan was allowed to get away with more, just how the game was called. There was a lot of stuff that wouldve been called during an SEC reg season game. Both teams wouldve fouled out on touch fouls if it was an SEC crew.

If the seeds were swapped, I do think we get more fouls in our favor that would have created space for our shooters. They also wouldn't have let their big man play like the star of the show.

Someone else brought up the TV timeouts too, and that's a really good point. Michigan isn't the first team to harass our shooters. The main difference is that we usually just run other teams tired and get open. That's not a factor when you get so many breaks.

Just sucks man. No other way around it.
