President Joe Biden - Kamala Harris Administration

Honesty no. Putting 91 octane in an engine tuned for 87 octane actually results in lower performance and thus lower mileage. The timing curve is setup for 87 octane so all you’re doing is wasting money and getting lower performance. If people are seeing lower mileage with different brands I’d guess it’s manufacturer specific formulation/additive differences.

That makes sense. I've never tested it. Just heard it from other people.

Yep. Street rod tuning 101. If you want to get aggressive on your timing to make more HP you gotta put in higher octane. An engine tuned with more global advance will make more power but requires higher octane. Thus when your timing and octane are mismatched you either A) risk detonation by having too much timing and low octane or B) just make less power by having not enough timing for the high octane fuel. B doesn’t harm the engine though.

I heard buy high octane gives better gas mileage

My car requires premium, so premium from different brands is what I'm comparing. I haven't bought Shell for some time - maybe they were just more anal about getting the full 10% of ethanol added than most other places - I can't explain it otherwise. I did find unleaded premium a couple of times and the mileage jumped, so obviously my car doesn't like corn in the tank at all.

Biden Resettles Over 146,000 Border Crossers Across U.S. in First Year

In his first year in office, President Joe Biden resettled more than 146,000 young border crossers across the United States — a foreign population more than twice the size of Portland, Maine and larger than Charleston, South Carolina.

The data comes from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) after Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) inquired about the Unaccompanied Alien Children (UACs) program where thousands of young border crossers arrive at the U.S.-Mexico border and are subsequently resettled in American communities with American taxpayer money.

From January 20, 2021, to February 7, 2022, the Biden administration has resettled 146,248 young border crossers with sponsors — nearly 20,000 of which HHS has lost track of.

While about 128,000 of those young border crossers have been resettled with either parents, siblings, cousins, aunts, or uncles, HHS officials said nearly 18,000 have been placed with sponsors that are unrelated to them or are distant relatives.

Stephen Miller, head of America First Legal and a senior advisor to former President Trump, said a number of the “major takeaways” from the HHS data include the agency’s state goal of permanently resettling young border crossers in American communities and the failure to verify whether sponsors are illegal aliens, themselves.

We should at least require every one of them to bring 2 barrels of oil with them for entry.

I think cars are smart enough now to detect detonation and dial back the timing advance. So you lose power, but probably won't damage the engine. I could always tell in the old days when I got a little too optimistic with the timing - haven't heard that in a long time, but I have to admit my hearing isn't what it used to be and car interiors tend to be more isolated now, too.

Joe Biden hasn't done one thing, since his first day, to help the American way of life.
It's about everybody else in the world but the American people he's most concerned with.

Yes they most all have knock sensors. However as a example the ones on my 96 Cobra are notoriously unreliable. I’m sure they’re better after 25 years tho.

In your case it might be pulling timing then. If it requires premium then of course you run it. But I’d be shocked if your computer was pulling timing due to octane since they legally shouldn’t be selling it if it doesn’t meet the advertised octane

Yep, I can't imagine a chain of stations getting away with false octane ratings, so I think it probably has a lot more to do with the ethanol content and the "up to 10%" factor. Recently I saw that at least one current study has shown that ethanol creates more pollution than it reduces as a gas additive. I've always thought that if you added up all the real environmental costs of fertilizer, farm machinery, distillation, lost mileage in cars and trucks, etc that ethanol was a non winner; but lobbies have a way of glossing over the facts and they pay congress well to go along.
